Morning. You coping okay? I'm almost afraid to ask, but how did things end up with the house? Let's just say it was a bad week all around. We are looking for a new house again. Evidently, the sellers went and took out a loan on the house after the title check was done, like they weren't going to check for liens one last time before the sale. They, obviously, did not have the money to pay the loan and I, obviously, was not going to up my offer by enough to pay it, so it did not happen. Wow, that sucks. That's kind of a shady seller. Did they really think they could sell the house with a lien on it? I think they got into some trouble and didn't have an out, so they did this. I am not sure if they expected it to get caugth and just "acted surprised" for the grace of it, but, they certainly weren't first time sellers/buyers, so they had to know the process, I believe. My wife thinks they did it because they had seller's remorse over the price they agreed to, and knew that they would either get the money that they wanted or they would keep the house and be able to put it on the market later. I'm not sure. i was pretty pi$$ed because all of the underwriting regulations have changed (129 changes since the beginning of the year) and I have a lot of time that has gone into making sure our bank and the underwriters had all of the info they needed. In 30 to 60 to 90 days, when we decide on another home, we will have to get a lot of this stuff again (bank statements and signed items from previous lenders). |
