I've got riding tomorrow and then a garden tour of local homes with my stepmom, capped off with a lovely unoacked chardonnay that I brought her from the Finger Lakes.

Mmmmm!!  A friend and I go to the Finger Lakes annually for wine and food and fun, and we try to stop by Red Tail winery for their non-oak chardonnay.  One stop of many, one wine of many...can't wait for August!

Good luck with your ride and swim, Brie, it sounds like such a fun time, as does the garden tour!

I have a race this weekend - a local sprint.    It's actually, my very first ever sprint!  I've never done a race that short.  I'm trying to keep my normal training schedule for the weekend, then just throw the race in there on sunday.  It should be fun!

Good luck everyone else too!  And for those of you not racing: enjoy your weekend!!  Best weather wishes to everyone!!

GOOD LUCK, TRACY!!!!  have fun!

OK, questions for you all: Should I wear my wetsuit during the swim of this sprint tri?  It's only a 500m swim...is it worth it to wear a wetsuit?  Will I be the only dork out there wearing one?

My distance preference is 1/2 and full IM, I don't have much (read: any) experience with sprints.

So, any other advice anyone is willing to share about sprints?  Words of wisdom?

(I didn't think I'd be nervous for this as i've always thought to myself it's "just" a sprint (don't take that the wrong way, and I don't mean to put down the sprint distance, but I'm currently training for long courses, ya know?!) ...but I totally am getting nervous/excited!! yay! fun!!)

IMKS 70.3 Relay Team:

Swim:  Russell            Bike:  Reece          Run:  Kathy

Bib # 1586

Russell is a great swimmer, not sure how his open water times are but he can do sub 2:00, 200 yard freestyle and was distance swimmer in H.S.  He's still only 24 years old.

Kathy is a USAT certified coach and has completed a few IM races, l think IMAZ last year.  She claims she's not in her best HM running shape but is excited to be part of my relay team.

I'm just happy I can do the race!

They didn't ask for a relay team name, I guess they don't require one.

Any ideas for a team name?

R2K? KR2? KR(squared)? I'm not very good with these things. I'd go with Peanutbutter Cup.

How fast are you at getting a wetsuit off? It should be 10, 15 seconds at the most ... and wetsuits generally give (more the slower you are) 10s/100m advantage.

Sprints are fun ... but they are pukefests. Feel free to go out and enjoy yourself, but if you want performance, it's pretty much redlining it the whole way. Both fun and fast (whatever your fast is) together are possible do what you like!

GO TRACY GO

Love the KR2 idea.  Maybe more to ponder with respect to team names.  Russell's a software engineer currentlyu works for Garmin.  Kathy is part owner of a company that provides multi-sport training.

I was actually dancing in front of a set of speakers. I think they re-set my heartbeat. WHAT?

Dancing on a balcony next to the DJ booth for two hours in heels ... very good for the spirit. Perhaps not so good for the ears, or knees.

But damn, that was fun.

Sad face, it's been months since I have been out dancing. Jeeeeaaalous. It should seriously be part of any training plan, for the physical and the spiritual Smile

Glad you had some fun!

Feeling better this morning - had a big cry and a big hug from DH!  Always helps.

today I'm putting the fun back into fitness and going to my friend's Body Attack class - I had to stop these fitness classes with all the S/B/R just couldn't fit them in!

I've also signed up for a 10 week Pilates course which I will be doing on Fridays during my lunchbreaks.  Certainly need that core stability controlling my mean machine bike!

You Manatees have made this whole journey such a pleasure and certainly not the lonely trip it could well have been.  I am actually looking forward to sharing my IM adventure with you all.  I think I'm going to train for about 5-6months so starts probably around October - about the time HIM finishes!

I certainly seem to like challenging myself.

Looking forward to hearing this weekend's racing news - smash it up MANATEES!

So that's Body Attack done - a class i used to sweat buckets in and struggle - found it soooo easy, how far my fitness must have come!  I hadn't been to that particular gym in well over a year - so many people said hi and commented on weight loss which I'd kind of forgotten - I'm about 30lbs lighter than when I last went there!  Bonus!

so now i'm eating...cheese and crackers, all time fave snack!
