Last year during the off season I used one of the winter maintenance training plans from BT - there are different plans that can be used to focus on a weakness or for just a balanced workout.

Next week (hopefully) I'm going to start the 8 week run focused plan, then I'll either repeat that 8 weeks or do another plan, I haven't decided yet.

GREAT idea and I think is the best way to approach things (he says as he looks at his run based plan.....instead of swimming  ;-)...sorry Beth I have one more sprint this Saturday, a half Mary in Oct. and my first full Mary in January so that is why I am run focused.

Then I am going more balanced with swim and biking through May with some sprints in the spring, my first century in June then....gulp...my first 70.3 in Augusta Ga. on September 27 (my 57th birthday as a matter of fact).

In light of what you have coming up.............

I'll let it go.....................this time

Thanks...I am pretty excited to see how it all plays out.  How has your training changed since the new job began?  I am hoping to get a Chief's job that I applied for last week and that means a major change to my schedule so I hope I can stay focused on regular training and meet my goals for the year.

How is it going for everyone?

We are making progress, slowly but surely toward getting settled in

I actually got a run in today -

Excellent news, Beth!  I am still not settled after 3+ years in my house...so that's really awesome!  And a run, woo woo!

I ran 7.5 miles this morning and have a 25 mile girls only fundraiser ride tomorrow.  Should be fun, if the rain stops.  The wet season is officially here, ugh!!!

Happy weekend to all.....

You GO girl...I'm back from my near death experience race on Saturday...All I am going to say right now is that I told a guy running from the swim to transition that I was sure that I could have taken my race entry fee and paid someone in Atlanta to just whip me a$$ and saved gas money and 2 days driving...he agreed   Race report up later today or tomorrow....do I have to mention in the report that I was one spot from DFL?...sorry...but that part is not a joke

sounds like it was quite the race!  i jsut read in someone's blog that it was very wavy during the swim.

No you do not have to mention what place you came in, the important thing is that you finished!

you ROCK!

Here is the RR for the Wilmington Race...please understand that if I had tripled my training for this race (on the run and bike) I would still be undertrained...but alas...cramps were my undoing this time.  But what a great course and a beautiful part of the country.

Hope everyone had a great weekend..and don't forget to check in on out Mentors...I think they both are in need of some cyber hugs and thoughts.  They have been there for us all at times so it is time to give back.

Steve

It looks like we have all been busy racing and trying to cope with what life throws us.  Here is to a calmer Fall for those in need.

Here is my Race Report for yesterday's funfest in Appleton WI.  The weather here has been so nice, maybe even better than CA!  Could not have asked for better conditions.  Had a great weekend.

It is so quiet around the manatee forum!  We must all have a lot on our plates these days.

I am very sad today.  One of my husbands employees passed away after a battle with cervical cancer.  She was only 34 years old and leaves behind a beautiful little 3 year old girl.  Cheri was so full of life, excited about being a mom and a wife and is now no longer with us.  It is times like this I always question why??????

I hope everyone has a good weekend filled with fun, family and friends.

Suzy, that is terrible--I worked in a cancer treatment and research center before I left to raise the kids, and left work daily wondering why.  It isn't fair at all, and I hope that your coworker can find some strength to remember her for her kids and be there for them.

Peace and love to you all.  I am heading out of town for the weekend, so it'll be quiet on my blog.  I hope you all have a great weekend.

Thanks for the inspires, gang! I had a really good time racing on Saturday. My swim sucked, which was totally expected, but otherwise I'm perfectly happy with the race. I can't believe my tri season is over! (If you're interested, my race report is here.) Then I ran 15 miles yesterday, which surprisingly felt just fine.

I see that Leslie had a fantastic weekend with her family -- check out her log for some beautiful photos. What's everyone else been up to?

Ok, so we are coping with the loss of our friend when we get a call last night.  One of my husband's employees died of a heart attack in the bathroom of the ER.  He was less than 50 years old and has an 8th grader and a senior in highschool.  And to top it off, another woman in his office who is just a mere 28 years old who has been battling ovarian cancer is back in the hospital.  As you can imagine, the whole company is simply devastated.  I always find it so hard to understand the why behind this kind of stuff.  It just seems so wrong......

Wow, Suzy, that is awful news.  As I said earlier, wondering why is the main thought in all of this.  Life is strange that way.  I guess it makes us all aware of the importance of making the most of every day that we are alive.

Hugs to you!

Leslie

Great job, Erin!  The end of the season is bittersweet, for sure.  I am antsy for next season already.  You've got that marathon to keep on training for....you are amazing for running so far after a race!

My trip was fun.  Here's one little photo to make everyone smile this evening....it's been a rough day all around, huh?
