My strategy for tomorrow is going to be to focus on my technique and worry less about the racing.  I do a lot better when I just worry about my stroke and breathing.

Sounds like a good plan. What a waste of a perfectly good swim to worry about what other people are doing. I love setting goals like "will do all my flip turns" in a pool swim. Or "will stick to 3 stroke breathing" in OWS. Gives me something concrete to focus on and something purely within my control.

Jen,

Tell me again why we signed up for this race tomorrow? I just checked the website for time and directions and now I'm getting that oh crap feeling...gotta erase that now! Go with I know I can do it...

Because we had a GREAT swim last week and we're going to do it again tomorrow.

guess I shouldn't have looked at the web site but I needed directions and to be sure of the race time since their e-mail was vague--would have to be with three separate race venues running at once...

Good night, Judi! I'll send you and Jen fast fish vibes while I'm in my car traveling to the redneck wedding. Yee haw.

My breathing goal is just to breathe often enough that I don't have to stop because I get out of breath.  If that makes sense.

Yeah, it does. I always strive for 3 stroke breathing cuz that's what I do in training. Racing it's a bit harder to do, especially in OWS, because of all the chop and I'm usually going faster than training so I need to breathe more. The only time I have panic issues in the water is when I feel like I can't breathe.

We're taking bets on how long this one will last. The marriage, not the wedding.

Nighty night. I guess it's bedtime for me, too. Been going through BT withdrawals. Blast. Tomorrow night will be another night without computer

Morning, Nibbs!

Hope Jen & Judi had a most excellent swim!

Best of luck with house-hunting, Beth!

I've got a soccer award picnic for lunch for Elder Monkey and then hopefully a nice long mind-clearing bike ride.

Oh, and laundry. I hate laundry.

Morning Nibbs!  The swim went well for both of us.  I cut three minutes off my PR, so I made my goal.  Even did pretty well on the breathing.  Only got out of breath at the start when I was trying to keep up with the jackrabbits.

Now I am ready to eat.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.  Pam, I can't wait to hear about the wedding.  Sounds like it will be interesting to say the least.

I'm really happy with the swim...no panic attacks, no hugging kayaks or bouys, no back strokes...just a straght out swim!  AND.....I got to meet a long term goal of body marking   Now I just have to volunteer a big race to be a wet suit stripper

Congrats on the swim, ladies! (No way you coulda dragged me out there...)

I did have a lovely ride today-conquered a wicked hill out in horse country (Vontay Church outside Rockville). Dude.

Trying to get the homelife back to normal. My dad called today - he's home with a visiting nurse to check his vitals and change his dressings...he's doing OK but easily tired.
