Todd great job on the century.  From one who has done several every year for the past 4 years, I know how hard they are.  I ahven't done any this year...the coach focuses on heavy intensity for three hours or less.  I may do one Saturday during a group ride for cancer.

Morgan: Fiber One rocks.  I live on the edge!  Actually, without a prostate from cancer...the side effects make that concern much less of a worry.     But, I hear you and will reconsider for longer races.

Ice.

Can't say I'm all that excited about the prospect, but I've got two more century (plus) training rides to do in the next four weeks...

Nice job, Scott. It shows your focus when you swam with water-filled goggles. Glad the swimmer in front of you knew where he was going though!! I find the cyclists and runners have the best advantage in tri's. You're so right about swimming not breaking it for you. We spend the largest percentage of time on the bike (usually) and you know the running will come. So, when's your next race? They are addictive. And, hey, Fiber One....whatever works.

Happy Monday, triathlete!

Lynn

Btw-- It's really nice to see and feel the support from you all. And, I think collectively our group has probably lost closer to 400 pounds if you add in my piddly 30. (Not piddly, I know, just said for effect).

Have a good week guys...where have the other gals gone?

Great job, Todd!  I'm really jealous that I couldn't have been there with you, as I was hoping to make that my first century as well.  Based on the event's description, it looked just about right to me.  No way to get away, though ...

I've been heading into the hills here a bit lately when I can get away, and easily (well, not "easily") tackling up to about 75 miles with 4,500+ feet of climbing, so my thought is to head out on a coastal ride up to Dana Point and back in the near future.  Rollers all the way, and I'm sure it is do-able and will be fun.  Question, though ... does it count as a "century" if you just go out and do it, or does it have to be an event?

Hello?  Hello?  Anyone here?

After a week off from the sprint at the coach's direction, I got back on the bike and did 90 plus at a cancer fundraiser.  It was set up in three 22 mile loops from the main food station.  (My great idea, I'll take credit now that I know everybody loved the format.)  I rode out to the lake, helped set up and then did my workout on the first loop and then charged through the other two and home.  Had a blast.  Rode 60 plus on Sunday.  I raced in the Tuesday time trials and nearly pr'd on a windy night with shifter troubles - could only stay in the big ring.  20.75 mph for 12.5 miles.  Not the fastest in the bunch but I moved back from 4th starter to 11th starter since I started going.  That feels good for an old man - flying by the younger ones.  So, yes, I do have an ego after all.

I also rode through the week, ran, swam twice with the masters including a 2000 continuous.  Today was a rest day.  Tomorrow starts the cycle again, tempo drill, VO2 drills and a brick. WooHoo!

Good to be back and have something to talk about.

Sorry about your injury.  Word from experience - don't press too early.  In the long run, you only slow yourself down.

Have a great weekend!

I'm still here. Just been on vacation. I've got an Int'l distance on Sunday. Morgan may be there and I'd love to meet you, guy, if you're able. Scott - So great you're keeping at it. I was in Indiana and thought of you and training throughout the spring and summer seasons. It's very challenging with all the rain and heat/humidity. I'm so lucky being here in California and our nearly perfect weather.  Master's swim, huh? That's great.  I'll post after my Sunday tri.

Good weekend to everyone!

Hey guys -- I'm looking at a tri bike later today that a tri-clubber has for sale. It looks like it might fit me. I've been drooling over these Ordu bikes. A friend has one and they're really beautiful. Let me know what you think.

If I get it, I think I nedd to buy some shifters. Any suggestions on what kind?

thanks and hope your training is going well for all of you!

Oh, Todd, were you happy with your tri bike purchase? Are you able to ride it on hillier courses?
