| Subject: RE: tcovert's Winter 2009 Mentor Group - FULLHello?  Hello?  Anyone here? After a week off from the sprint at the coach's direction, I got back on the bike and did 90 plus at a cancer fundraiser.  It was set up in three 22 mile loops from the main food station.   (My great idea, I'll take credit now that I know everybody loved the format. )  I rode out to the lake, helped set up and then did my workout on the first loop and then charged through the other two and home.  Had a blast.  Rode 60 plus on Sunday.  I raced in the Tuesday time trials and nearly pr'd on a windy night with shifter troubles - could only stay in the big ring.  20.75 mph for 12.5 miles.  Not the fastest in the bunch but I moved back from 4th starter to 11th starter since I started going.  That feels good for an old man - flying by the younger ones.  So, yes, I do have an ego after all.  I also rode through the week, ran, swam twice with the masters including a 2000 continuous.  Today was a rest day.  Tomorrow starts the cycle again, tempo drill, VO2 drills and a brick. WooHoo!   Good to be back and have something to talk about. Sorry about your injury.  Word from experience - don't press too early.  In the long run, you only slow yourself down.   Have a great weekend! |
