UWMadTri - 2010-09-09 11:39 AM Checked in, met 1stTimeTri briefly and got the heck outta there! So much nervous energy.

Oh, c'mon.... Phil isn't that scary...or nervous...or makes others nervous (sorry Phil, couldn't resist the implication of UWMadTri's sentence).

My last swim is this evening, but I might come down to watch and soak in the atmo.

All my excited energy must be throwing everyone's confusion, nervousness, and uncertainty off!

There are a couple of issues that occurred:
1). Timing chips were lost by Fed Ex, but got in this morning.  Us volunteers moved quickly tearing the plastic off, grouping the devices by a 100 to match up the registration number boxes, and then placing the chips in all the registration packets!! WHEW!  2946 entries this year!!!!
2). Somebody in Arizona wanted to merge the participants database which then screwed up a lot of the participants' data.  So, if you haven't registered, LOOK AT THE DATA ON THE CARD CAREFULLY!!!!!

I got to see Suzy and a couple of others so far.  I even helped out a guy from Hawaii who wanted to know about the swim and bike and what to expect/plan for!  Cool!

I'm back tomorrow and hope to see some more of you!!!

GOOD LUCK!!

Couple of things....I guess the dinner is sold out. I was going to try and get my girlfriend a ticket but i was a few weeks late. Does anyone know where to pickup the gps trackers? I was told they were going to be onsite but could not find them this afternoon.

Who wants to arrange a BT table at the dinner tomorrow night?

Does anyone know if spouses are allowed to come to the mandatory meeting if neither him or I are attending the banquet?

My training group scheduled a group dinner at 5pm at a restaurant so I'll be heading to the meeting after that, but wanted to know if he's allowed in once the food portion is over?

obviously its hard to enforce once they're in the banquet but they ask non-racers to leave the room after the banquet (which they got into with a ticket)...afterwards, no IM bracelet...no entry....

GPS trackers are fairly close to the information booth on the main level.  Andy is on the right side as you are walking down the aisle.  I would try to get there in an off time. He explains things in detail and with people still signing up it can take a while.  They're bigger than I thought they would be.  They come with a strap to wear around your waist, but you can also slip them in  your jersey pocket on the bike so long as the GPS tracker is right side up. Coudl also put it on your own race belt.  Not sure how I am going to do it on the run since I was planning to stick it in my fuel belt zipper pocket.

I am already sitting with my training buddies, but would love to know where you end up so I can meet all of you face to face.

There's a tent just to the left as you enter the terrace, the tickets are there!

I'm trying to plan out my race morning.  My hotel is in Middleton . . . any advice on what time to arrive downtown in order to have a chance at getting a spot in a parking lot or structure (vs parking at the Alliant Center)?

I am meeting my coach and a group at 430p on top of Monona Terrace but would love to meet up with some BT's also.
Feel amazingly calm after registering this morning.
My nerves have pretty much settled down.
Went for a short walk tonight felt weird to just stroll along no garmin buzzing to make me Run intervals etc.
Spent a bit of money on some stuff at the expo of course all of it I plan to wear race day - Not.

I live very close to Middleton and am planning to get to Monona Terrace at 5am.   From the people I know who have done the race in the past, no issues getting parking at that time.

Quick question, how "mandatory" is the mandatory meeting on Friday night?  Is this more of a course/transition overview?  I am planning on going but don't want to feel as though not making it is a huge deal.

Tri-Wog StL - 2010-09-09 9:44 AM Driving to Madison in a few hours.....get there tonight in time to crash at the hotel......will be swimming at 7am tomorrow......look for a guy in a BRIGHT orange "IronBrick" t-shirt near the swim area in the AM or at registration after that.....then I will be chilling out and double checking the bike and my stuff in prep for bag packing......hope to meet as many BT'ers as possible.....

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!
Paul

I'm going to try to be there by 7 to swim too.  Hopefully we will run into each other (I don't have any cool distinguishing shirts, but I'm 23 and 5'7'' so that should narrow it down).

I'm wondering this as well? I registered today since I was conveniently in Madison for work, but I would be driving an hour an a half each way just for the meeting if I go tomorrow. The family is moving to our hotel on Saturday and I'd just as soon skip the meeting if it won't be a huge issue.
