jdwright56 - 2008-06-17 3:08 PM  The Maxim quotient says that you could be dating a 19 year old right now ((Man's age / 2) + 7), so as you are turning 40, you can use this logic to hook up with a 27 year old.

I know you're joking, but it's crap like that, that makes the whole dating thing SUCK for women.

I actually though it worked both ways....  Not just men dating younger women.  Just dating in general.

Both.

I don't want a kid... especially if it's not even mine. The last one's ex wanted to 'beat the crap' out of me... even though I did NOTHING to warrant that. I don't have patience for that crap.

WTF? Guys care about who dates their ex-gf? Most guys I know could care less what happens, or at least just ignore it after they break up with someone, even if it was a long-term thing. It's usually the girls that have the issues of wanting to kick some a$$.

While I don't care who she dates I think the guy my ex-wife dates is a complete loser who basically can do one thing well - AG podium in a sprint tri. BFD. Smile

Well, it's one thing to think the guy is a douche, but to go and threaten him outright (like that dude wanted to do to Ryan) seems a bit extreme.

It's been that way for a year.  I still don't know where to find them.

Maybe, though to be honest, I wouldn't want to date a guy too much younger than me or way, way older. The guys my own age are barely mature, so why would I dip too far below - plus, I'm still young enough that TOO young means they're still living off their parents or fresh out of college. I don't want some slacker who lives in a dump and sleeps until 2pm every Saturday. But I don't have much in common with some guy who's pushing 40, has owned a house for the past several years, makes 6 figures, etc.

46/2 + 7 = 30

I actually would not want to date someone much younger than that due to life experience issues.

I did briefly date someone who was 29.

If it works for both genders as Aikidoman suggests, I wouldn't want it:

27/2 + 7 = 20.5 - HELL NO.

Ok, ok, I get it.  We don't have much in common.

Don't get me wrong.  Maxim magazine is absolutely a "pig" mag, but I like quoting the "quotient" because it generally infuriates women, especially my wife.  I am 41 and she is 35.  When we met I was 35 and she was 29.  So my Maxim quotient was 24.5 and I told her that she was actually too old for me.  Now that we are the ages that we are, I am supposed to be with someone that is 27.5 and shee is almost 10 years too old for me, so I have to start shopping again.  The reaction is funny - even though she knows I am joking.

Look, mags like Maxim... its kind of like the reading equivalent of preteen boys having a farting and burping contest. Its FUN. Its not supposed to be taken seriously. Guys really are not that piggy, we all end up following some woman around like a beat down dog eventually.

No, I know Maxim is just for fun, and that jdwright was kidding with his post. HOWEVER, that mindset is very prevalent among men, and it sucks.

wurkit you are going about it all wrong.  The best way is to get 'em young and train 'em right.  My husband was 19 when we started dating I was just about to turn 32.
