Yesterday while working in Waco, I sprained my back muscles right beneath the shoulderblade and it hurts quite a bit in certain positions. I was supposed to swim today but I'm terrified that I tore my muscles or ligaments so I aborted. Crappy luck! I've been training for a whole year for this event and managed to stay injury free and nine days away I hurt myself... I pray for recovery, and a fast one.

Recover quickly ... call the doctor and see if you can get in on Monday. I hope everything is okay.

I know the feeling. I also got into a bike accident the day before Vineman this year and now 12 days out from Arizona I bust up my kneee. I'll make it but its been a long journey and a lot of PT bills. I hope you make it.

I am so scared now..  I almost got into a bike accident last weekend...   and today it is lightly raining..  I was supposed to ride for two hours..   Is not going to happen...  I am too scared..  I want to make it to the starting line.

In addition to the fact it was dark for the first 1.5 of my 3 hour ride today, this is another reason I did the trainer...I am not getting hurt one week out!! The rest of y'all be safe and those nursing some wounds, heal fast! ONE WEEK BEFORE RACE DAY.  I'm super excited and packing today! YEEHAW! BRING IT ON!!

Sounds like it's time for a good movie and some quality trainer time! I don't blame you for wanting to avoid injury.

Starting to pack too. Leave early Tuesday morning for THE DRIVE.  Thought I might ride one loop of the course. Taking traffic etc into consideration, would wed. afternoon or Thursday morning be better?

Also, does anyone use Infinit? I just got my new refills of my formula and it tastes different. Has anyone experienced this? Maybe it pre IM paranoia....

Is anyone else doing the Janus Charity Challenge??

I am almost at my goal.  I am raising money for the American Heart Association.  My goal was $5000 and I am at $4200 so far.  I am hoping I'll get some last minute donations!

I am doing the Ironman in memory of Liam Murray!

A week from tonight we'll all be getting ready for the race!

Woooohoooo!

I'm leaving early Tue morning from the Portland, OR area.  22 hours of driving.  Ugh.  We should be there sometime Wed afternoon.  I'm going to do a quick jog to stretch out the legs that evening.  And then a 1hr easy bike ride on the course on Thu morning.  I would love some company for the ride!

That would be great! I should arrive in Tempe midday Wednesday. Maybe we can swap cell phone numbers.

OMG! This happened to me about 2 months ago. I ordered my usual mix, and with the first swig I was like"This is NOT right!!!"  I called Infinit, and even though they didn't know how it could happen, they sent me a new batch. Again, with the first swig I could totally tell it was right.  I threw out the funky tasting stuff because I had no idea what was off.....just the flavor? The calories? The sodium? The electrolytes? I need to know what I am taking in, so I dumped it.
I would call them.  They would probably ship a new batch out to you right away to wherever you are staying! They are all about customer service!

I'm so glad to hear this! (mainly so I didn't think I was losing it) I did call Infinit -they were so nice - and are shipping some new stuff out to me. I had ordered two bags and had only opened one. I opened the second and it tastes normal. The first bag was just too weird!

A week from today at this time, all of us (hopefully) will be riding up and down Beeline. I'm so freaking anxious! Smile
What's everybody doing to keep yourselves from doing something stupid, like running 18 miles a week before or riding at 24/mph?
The taper builds a lot of adrenaline, agree? I'm eating sorbets like crazy, watching IM videos, the crawl to the finish line back in 1982, etc.
Ideas, anyone?
