I was planning to do an OWS with my tri group tonight after work but time, distance, and traffic prevented me from getting there on time. Google maps says it's a 45 minute drive but I was allowing an hour. Looks like I would have need 1.5 to be safe. I don't know how others do this on a work day. Maybe I have further to go. Oh well, at least I get my first quiet evening this week so it's not all bad.

Nice change of pace Nicole. That's a long way to go for a swim....but at least you know where to go now...

Sorry the group swim did not work out.  Hope you're enjoying your quiet evening though

I think they may have ended up canceling it do to the threat of thunderstorms. It would have sucked even worse to have driven all the way out to find it canceled.

We have very limited access to legal OWS around here. Basically, it's almost 50 miles, to the Chesapeake Bay. On a Sunday morning it's a little under an hour and not bad. On a weekday afternoon with commuter traffic, it may be impossible for me!

I did my Bike to Work Day commute this morning. It's my third year and the best so far. In 2007 it was cold and 2008 was cool and raining; today was warm but a bit humid. Since I knew I would be getting breakfast at the rally point I was out of the house an hour earlier than usual. I discovered that it's a much nicer experience at 6:20 than at 7:20; quieter and with less traffic. I think in the future I will plan on getting breakfast down here.

That sounds like a good plan.  One of the reasons I come into work at 6 is because there is very little traffic at that time

That sucks, here I can go for an OWS within 10 on my house to at least three or four differents lakes and the river too.
