New user 322 KY | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Hilde, That sounds great! Can't wait to hear how the test run goes. I know what you mean about giving incentive for a better diet. My 2 piece tri "suit" (tri shorts and a sports bra) doesn't hide anything either lol! Well, bike is packed and driving from KY to MN for a visit tomorrow. Excited for some quality family time and relaxing bike miles! |

Extreme Veteran 495 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! I learned the hard way just how tight tri suits need to be when I did my first (and so far only) non-wetsuit swim. I felt like I was literally swimming IN my tri top- like swimming laps around the inside of it! Lesson learned- it should NOT fit like a bike jersey! |

Veteran 421 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! To answer Hilde's questions in my inspires...(this got lost on the prior page in a flurry of posts) rustymom - 2012-04-30 2:53 PM I test rode a road bike today. Very entry-level, but it was new and fun. (Jamis Ventura Sport Femme http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/road/ventura/12_venturasportf_bl.html) The shop guy is nice and helpful. I stopped in another time to check what brands and models they had. I enjoyed the ride. I found the shifting to be fine (2300 type shifters and Sora derailler) but obviously different from my Schwinn Hybrid. I got used to the shifting and position pretty easily. The brakes felt less "grippy" somehow, but I'm sure I could adjust. The seat would take some getting used to. The bike I rode was a 2011 model, which I find strange since this shop just started selling Jamis recently. They didn't mention the model year, but I've been on the site and they previously gave me a 2012 product catalog. I wonder if they'll try to sell me a 2011. I like the blue in the 2012. |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Trying to catch up a little here (sorry I'm behind): Andrea - congrats on the 5k PR! And good job on the first week of your challenge. Sounds like you're off to a great start! Kristen - I say go for the marathon. Like someone else said, if you're thinking about it then you must want to do it, so go for it! Michelle - congrats on your PR also! Tammy - Glad that you can still get into the Flying Pig at the expo. I've had dreams about showing up for a race and realizing that I never signed up (and I've checked my registration several times for this weekend's tri just to make sure I'm actually registered). Erin - nice new bike! As for me - my 5k on Saturday went OK. There were some timing issues and the race started late but it wasn't a bad run. Now I'm trying to concentrate on getting ready for my tri this weekend. Can't decide what to do about training. I took last night off 'cause I was just too tired to do anything. I'm thinking I'll do a short run tonight, possibly a swim tomorrow (weather-dependent), and an easy ride on Thursday, then take Friday and Saturday off. I know most people don't usually taper for a sprint but I've found that having 2 days off before a race - even a short one - works good for me. If I get restless, I'll just go for a short walk or do some yoga on those days. My body could use a good stretch. |

I know some people need to do something the day before to keep their muscles loose, so to each his own. I'm taking about a day and half this time... |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Rant...So today I am riding home and pass this guy in full gear waiting for his training partner. I've seen him a few times before. He has a nice bike (Felt something). I tell him he has a nice bike. He says thanks. Then while waiting at a stop light, he and his buddy come up beside me and don't even acknowledge my existence. It was like I was invisible. They've done this before. I'm just like some lowly commuter beneath their notice. They take off when the light turns.I know where they are going and get there ahead of them using my normal route. They pass me going up a hill. Once again no acknowledgement even though I say " oh you guys make me feel really tired". I hear just a little laugh without them breaking their conversation.Stupid guys in full kit. |

Expert 1007 Missouri | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Good luck to everyone this weekend! Weather's not looking so good for my race on Sunday. There's a good chance for thunderstorms. Rain I can handle, but thunder/lightning I'm not so sure about. I guess I'll just have to wait and see and hope for the best. |

Extreme Veteran 495 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Thanks, and good luck to all the other racers! It's marathon #2 for me in Cincinnati on Sunday. Weather looks to be a bit warm-ish, but otherwise good. I had race dreams last night; I was a mile away from the start line when the gun went off, realizing I had left my fuel belt and fuel at home, trying to make do with the PBJ and cereal I had packed for plane snacks when a race official came up and said the start would close in 7 minutes, so I had to get in the golf cart and zoom to the start line with him NOW. I was so relieved to wake up from that one! |

White looks nice for about 5 minutes when I'm around. It will be an improvement over my Schwinn Hybrid, for sure. It should be built and all mine at the end of next week. http://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/thebikes/road/ventura/12_venturasportf_bl.html |

Expert 972 Falls Church | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! So I just discovered my issues on the weekend. My favorite beer, Dogfish 60 Minute IPA, is 209 calories per bottle. 3 beers each on Friday and Saturday makes an extra 1200 calories that contribute nothing nutritionally. I don't always have this many but come summer this is routine. I guess I'll have to scale back to one or two each Friday and Saturday! |

Veteran 421 | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Mmmm, beer! I don't drink often, but I enjoy good beer. Wellness challenge update, week 2- According to the Y scale I've lost another 2lbs for a total of 7.8lbs in 2 weeks. I ate some junk calories (chocolate) this week but I tracked it and was still at a reasonable number of calories. On to the next week and many more pounds to go...

Hi all - please forgive me for I have sinned... it's been too many FU#@$%CKING weeks since my last forum blog. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things after several UK trips, disney trip and family issues. Now, I've got my head screwed on a little tighter and think I will be back at it... I will still be traveling to the UK frequently and due to my new promotion it may become a lot more time in England. But, I hope to share some love around here more. I'm not even going to try and attempt to catch up.. I'm gunna start here! haha... Good luck to everyone racing this weekend... I was supposed to run a HM but 3 weeks of nada sets me up for injury.. not gonna go there - so I drank beer tonight to make sure I wouldn't run tomorrow... haha.. Have a great weekend everyone. |

Veteran 159 Cleveland area, OH | Subject: RE: HILDEKQ'S Magnificently Motivational Mentor Group - CLOSED!!!! Wow, big weekend for races! My 5K was O.K. today. I ran on tired legs and ran a full 2 minutes slower than last week. Oh well, as I said in my race report, this was certainly not my "A" race, so I'll chalk it up as training miles. It was a great day of socializing with my former colleagues though, and we finally had some gorgeous weather on the northcoast. Erin - NICE bike! I like the all black - it looks very stealth-like. I bet it's super fast! Andrea - Congrats to you on the new bike as well. New gear is always so exciting! Tammy (tstl) - welcome to Ohio! I would totally come out to support you, if Cincy wasn't at the a$$ end of Ohio . Glad you can still register for and run the marathon. Best of luck to you! Janet - good luck with your Sprint! Joe - hope you run like the wind in your 10K! Hilde, Tammy (TTucker) and Connie - knock 'em dead this weekend. Congrats and extra good vibes to you Connie for your first tri! Have to admit being a bit jealous that it's tri season for so many of you... I still have another 2 months before the season opens here. Lake Erie's still a tad bit chilly for swimming (50 on the dot as of today). Oh, and welcome back Wilson! |
