Kido - 2012-08-09 2:50 PM I'm wondering if the PGA championship could have scheduled for next weekend?  I'm sure their rating will be hurt by the Olympics.  I normally record and watch all of it because I'm back into golf, but can't with all the olympics I'm recording.  I wonder if they thought about that?

Especially with that course they are playing.  That plays into people's fascination with train wrecks.

I know I will sound like a dork, but I seriously spend an hour last night trying to figure out which sessions of the Olympics I could skip recording to get the Championship.  But we are finally hitting all the good stuff in the olympics.

All the finals for the team sports, mens mary, second day of decathlon, closing ceremonies...   I just couldn't figure out where to cut recording corners to fit in the 8hrs of golf per day...  BOOOOOOO!!!!!

This is # 4.

They do the whole "how many years have you been married" thing but with races.  So you stand up if you have done one in the past, then stay standing if it's more than one, then remain if it's more than 10, 20, etc..

I really don't entend to stay standing past the second option.  Don't plan to do 10 or more but you never know.

This year it doesn't even feel like a race.  More like a long miserable day of excersizing!

"Which is why the new Ironman Legacy Program is possibly even more exciting than the lottery. The newly launched Ironman Legacy Program will grant loyal Ironman athletes an opportunity to compete in Kona at least once in their lifetime. One hundred legacy winners will be chosen by WTC based on several criteria: to be eligible for selection in the Legacy Program: athletes must have completed a minimum of 12 full distance Ironman-branded races, have never started the Ironman World Championship, have completed at least one full distance Ironman event in each of the 2010 and 2011 seasons and be registered for a full distance Ironman event in 2012."

Not sure what my odds are still.  But I may sign up for AZ again next year and make it 3 years in row.  Or go somewhere else.  FL?

So you need 12 total, with one in 2010, 2011, AND 2012.  I don't have 12 and I forget if I did one in 10.  Maybe I did.  Saint George?

I wouldn't mind signing up for the lottery except that you have to pay 50 bucks.  If you get in, they apply it to your entry.  If not, it's lost.  Well, that's how it used to be.  I would love to race Kona.

You figure with the requirements (12 races, one each in the last 3 years, etc.) and 100 open spots, the chance of success is pretty good.

I know the lottery is the only way I would ever be able to race Kona.

Or lots of money...  I think you can get corporate spots for several thousands...

I just looking into the Malibu tri (the one with all the celebs).  Full up, but you can get a corporate/donation spot for $2,500 or something like that.

There HAS to be a way to buy your way in (expensive) or some sort of fame.  There are semi celebs in there that HAD to buy their way in or make a good story (like a Biggest looser contestant).  I KNOW they didn't qualify, and get that lucky to get a lottery spot?  Doubt it.

I know it's a tri thing, but I felt something magical when I went to Kona just to visit.  The hallowed stomping grounds.  Even waded in the swim start and walked Ali'i Drive...  Wife didn't feel the spirit like I did.  I wonder why?

I shouldn't venture into TAN, but I know how you feel! Seahawks don't play until Saturday sadly. I'm excited to see how FLynn does and even TO a little.
