Hey Isabelle...Hope you have a great day out skiing with the girls. Be sure to let out a big 'Yee-haw!' for me!

Cheri- Totally all over the focus- focus-focus...I can't tell you how much this mentor group has done for me already and I am so ready to give back. I agree that training can be tough with the lack of daylight...any chance you can put the bike on a trainer? are there other pools that are easier for the work schedule- maybe somewhere closer to work?

Julie- Hope you have a fantastic ride today! Now about those pancaked girls...welcome to my world- I must have had a mammogram as a young child and they never recovered.  I am glad that you decided to see the PT... hopefully they will give you some good info to help you toward full recovery and prevention. We missed you while you were 'out' but so good that you took some much deserved Julie-time!

Yesterday was a wonderful Saturday... started with a ride on the trainer- made a slight seat adjustment and what a difference it made to feeling like I had a round pedal stroke. After a yummy bannana and pb sandwich and a quick shower I was out the door for a massage. Tried a new RMT and she was great...spent a lot of time on my legs and made me grit my teeth a few times but it felt fantastic. I feel very fortunate that I have massage covered in my health plan and always make a point of using up my coverage. I always wondered why people didn't use the opportunity if they had it as you can't argue with the health benefits. After the massage it was time to walk Linkin and then headed out to the pool with dh. It was a slow swim (as usual) but it feels so much better after the changes I made from drill night. A take out Thai dinner with some friends finished a busy but awesome day.

Today will be a little more low key. A long run this morning with Linkin tagging along for half of it and then it will be some school work followed by the BIG game. Go Steelers!

Hope you're all enjoying the rest of the weekend and are able to get that heart rate up!

I got out for a decent ride this morning. The temperature was 40F when I went out and 51F when I got back home. I was overdressed by at least one layer. The roads were a bit messy but not too bad. I had to deal with a little remaining slush on a few roads, melt water run off, and lots of sand and salt. When I got home Saphira was definitely needing a cleaning.

I'm having internet issues so I may not be on much today.

Saphira? like your bike name! glad you were able to get out. Sounds like you had quite the mixture of road cover. Hope you can get that computer fixed soon...we can not have our Nicole MIA! good luck!

It's either the cable coming into the house or the router needs to be replaced. Since our cable tv is also having issues it's probably the cable itself. There's supposed to be a technician coming to check it out today. If it's the router I might be able to get it exchanged tomorrow.

Re: Saphira: I'm into dragons and my bike has blue accents so the name of a blue dragon for my bike was a natural. Even so, I wonder why she took almost a year to reveal it to me.

On a different note, for several weeks I've been looking forward to attending my first tri club monthly meeting tonight. However, it turns out that my son has his last varsity hockey game tonight, with something special for the seniors afterwards. So instead of the tri meeting I'll be doing my good parent thing instead. If the game were a little bit earlier or the meeting a little later I'd be able to just get from the game to the meeting. I hope March works out.

You're a hockey family too!  My little one plays hockey...the only girl on her team (she's a Mite B).

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend...although I didn't backtrack in posts too far today.  I'm off, again, today as both my older daughter and I have strep throat.  My temporary crown also fell off already (got it on Friday) so I guess I'll be going in to the dentist around 12:30 to get that fixed.  I'll tell them I have strep...gotta get it fixed, though, as there's a very sensitive, naked tooth under there and the crown is very jiggly right now.

I'm thinking of leaving my older daughter home alone while I go to the dentist...she's only 10, but she's feeling pretty bad healthwise (and doesn't want to go anywhere) and I'm sure my going in to the dentist with strep is bad enough without bringing another contagious person in?  I don't know how long this will take, which is my main concern.  I've never left her alone more than like 10-15 minutes...what do you guys think?

Hope everyone is having a wonderful, spectacular Monday so far!!!  (LOL

Sounds like you had a fabulous day! starting with a massage...and ending with some hot and spicy Thai! mmmmmmm  Im JEALOUS!

I did indeed have a great ride...no wind, warm sunny weather, and a cute pace booty in front of me! 32+ mile ride

then we went home, I made my famous cueso dip and guacamole...and hopped on our beach cruiser single speed bikes and rode to the Super Bowl Party. Another 6+ miles.

so that is my start to this focus focus focus thing that Cheri challenged us to. Today I am going to work that new lap counter I got....what is everyone else up to!?

we are one month into the year...time to gear it up for those upcoming runs, races, centuries. TIME TO GET READY TO RUMBLE...........

Dan...you are going STRONG! kiu~ running in snow/slush is not an easy feat! and shoveling snow is definitely lots of work...no wonder you decided that was enough! there is a place for you to log that so it shows up...if you want me to show you let me know. Hope we can gain some motivation from you! keep it up!

Nicole...is unstoppable. Nice run today! I seem to notice some very improved times in your pace! you go girl! hope your computer is better~!  if not you have to go buy another one and quick... we would miss you big time if you were to leave us!

Cheri.....another unstoppable teamy!!!! she is very focused but came up with the new idea  for the focus february challenge. I am joining her....who else is in???

Yvonne...wow ! your log is cram-jammed full with activities! you simply just never stop! and that is a GOOD THING! and an 10+mile run with less then ten minute time! YOU GO GIRL! your dog must be pooped today! great job! I am soo very jealous! kiu!!!!

Amy M...hope you are not buried in snow! We are thinking warm thoughts for you...and speaking of sunny/hot....we miss seeing your sexy legs on da beach and your daily messages that come along with them...plus want to know how you and Lacy are doing...so??? hope things are going well!

Jennifer...hope things are ok...know you are busy with the twins and all...but make sure to take that time for Jennifer. We miss hearing from you! we want to hear more about your training and your parties you give for a living!

Andria...you poor dear you! Lupus, Strep throat, crown tooth that has fallen off, two sick kids...hoping for a much better day/week! you hang in there! how you can work out with all this going on is besides me! just the joint pain you deal with daily makes me feel bad about my complaint about my knee pain....you have that kind of pain daily and continue to go forward with your training...I just wanted you to know that you are a HUGE inspiration to me! hoping you feel better! and get rid of that rash soon!!

Trish - did you receive my package? I just mailed it Friday or maybe Saturday....let me know how it fits.  hope you will hop in this February Focus Challenge we are doing. You in?

Scot....I used to love to play racquetball...that is an incredibly hard workout. My face was beat red when I left the court....   hope you got your Saturday/Sunday workout in.

Monica....are you still sore from your Friday workout?  it is good that you are doing the pre and post stretching...will help to prevent injuries.   Good job on your bike ride, run and core work out yesterday! KIU!!!!  hoping you got your swimsuit to go with those nice new goggles... did ya? did ya?

Julie H.....hope your surgery on your eyelid goes well...hoping you got the swim in before...as you may be prevented from going for a while after surgery...let us know how you are! and what is this no run in the slush! come on! talk to Lyssa...I used to be that way...no my favorite time to run is in the rain! heck if she didnt run in the rain...she couldnt run...she lives in Seattle...where the sun only shines on the 32nd of every month...in other words..NEVER! You in for the February Challenge? more peach squares?

Isabelle - is is still snowing? hoping you got to the gym. whats on tap for the week? thanks for always stopping by to inspire...when I need it most! funny how sisters know when to do so! thanks for being Iss! You always know what to say to get me back on track! thanks sista!

AND FINALLY, WHERE oh WHERE is my other two FAITHFUL BLISTA SISTAS???

Lyssa? where are you? did you get my box??? dont let those finances get you down!!!

Amy SD? how them legs? you been running? at least to go grab chuck! hope you come back!

ok....we have a handful of very busy athletes and a few handful of those who seem to have little or no work outs logged.  I hope that you will join in on the FEBRUARY FOCUS Challenge....and try and focus on peach calendars! little or no yellow! so that means you have to log workouts! or your calendar will remain white with no posts, yellow with posts and no workouts, peach if you bike, run, or swim, purple if you do core training, and green if you have a race.....for those of you who did not know there was a color scheme. so who is going to try and fill in those calendars for the month of February with all peach!?

and finally....DRUM ROLL PLEASE!!

NALANI if you thought I forgot about you!....I did not....YOU ARE THE ATHLETE OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY! FABULOUS JOB ON YOUR 27+mile marathon in Hawaii! you not only ran a marathon... but had to go the extra mile and 1/2....CONGRATULATIONS on being the first winner of this prestigous BT AWARD! I actually have a small trophy for you...send me your address.

Hi to all "my people".  I have one eye to see with at this poing (the other is kinda swollen and numb/swollen a little bit....so I have glasses on, and I'm trying to type and put Lexi's "boo boo bear" frozen gel thingy on it from time to time !!! lol  The procedure was fast but wow that "little burn "was one heck of a big burn in my opinion" !! PHEW

So I have missed out on the February challege, can someone tell me where to find it or give me the short version?......  I would like to know what it is.  Also I asked before but did not search yet (with the one eye and all).. lol  what are the "peach" boxes in our calenders ?.......

Ok, off to get rid of the glasses and hit the ice harder... kinda burns now ! lol

I could be a pirate .........well minus the patch ! lol

you can always get in the challenge...it starts today....any time you work out...you log it and your calendar will turn peach...if you just log written info and no workouts...your calendar stays yellow...if you log a race it turns green...if you log a core training such as sit ups, push ups, hikes, walking the dog, shoveling snow...it turns up darker peach.....so on and so forth...so basically the more you log activities the peacher you become! does that make sense!? good hope you can read with your one eye! hope you heal soon! and mean while take a walk. I just hope that you will do sets if you are logging sit ups and crunches and such. in other words, no logging one sit up...just to get that peach ok?

you crack me up with that you are using a teething toy to ice your eye with! I got a visual on that!

Well I managed to stay focused two days in a row -- woo hoo!  I did a long run yesterday and a shorter run and a swim today.  None of my times are spectacular, though.  A friend suggested that I might still be tired from all of my traveling?  Could be...  I think I'll go to bed early tonight.  Hubby is on a trip so it's just me.

i can't believe i'm on the "where are ya" list?!?!? what happened?!? i went out of town for the weekend, and i'm REGISTERED to race on sunday! my first 10K!!!

congrats nalani on being the first ever gpol triathlete of the month, and WOW on the marathon!! hope i can do even HALF as well at my first in june.

i'm not all the way caught up, but i read julee's update thing, so i caught a little of it. sounds like a lot are sick/buried in snow......i'll only say this, snow is no fun, ice is no fun, but just TRY running in the pouring down rain--just TRY it! you'll love it! i know! it's my all time favorite time to run, in fact we've had so much freakish sunshine lately, i was just lamenting to dh that i hadn't been able to get a really good "rain run" in in forever! i'm secretly hoping for rain on sunday when i race! i'm so excited, i wasn't going to do it, but a few very motivational people talked me in to it. LOL (one being my mom and the other is another bt-er who's coming to the same race to do the DU)

I LOVE BT!! you guys are so freaking awesome!!

oh yeah, julee-i DID just get that box. you are freaking rocking my world woman!! most of the stuff fits, although, i think someone else wanted the running tops?!? and i wanted the blue swimsuit-but hey, i'm SO not complaining! LOL the shoes and the pedals fit together, but i don't have the pedals on my bike yet, i'm kind of hoping i can get them on either wed or thurs. i can't wait to try it out! (and hopefully NOT bleed, LOL) now you just have to tell me what kind of cookies you love, so i can send you a package. -- if you lived closer they'd still be warm outta the oven when i gave 'em to you, alas, you live too freaking far away.

ok, i'm all caught up!
so today i ran 3.1 again (my short run) and i deep cleaned my bedroom. (soooooo clean now!)

what do you guys suggest for this week-training wise. if i'm doing a 10K on sunday, i'm going to count that as my long run i think, and i'll probably take saturday completely off, but between now and then, my ORGINAL plan was to just run my 3.1 every day, and take saturday off--but i'm looking to the wisdom of the mentor group, what do you guys suggest?

i haven't raced at ALL since my last tri in august, i LOVE to race! i'm so looking forward to this!

Glad to see that you signed up Lyssa.   I haven't raced in so long....I'm jealous.  If it were me, I would do the 3.1 on Wed and Fri and do something else (swim or cycle) on the other days.

Thanks Julie - got the same tip from Andria so I went and updated my log for that day.  It is now peachy.   I'm up for the Feb focus challenge - won't necessarily all be peach, but at least yellow.

Congrats to Nalani!

And many, many thanks to Julie for the marvelous update.  Amazing!

I will look. I have some other things that I am gathering for round two...and I like cookies, chocolate, sugar, peanut butter, snickerdoodles, pecan sandies....there are very few cookies I dont like! so you just bake some of your signature or best cookies and I will not turn them away! In fact I will gladly accept them! I am the COOKIE MONSTER!

As for your weeks schedule before your 10K. I would say definitely you do not want to burn yourself out running every day - and make your legs angry and tired on race day!  Me personally: I would run tomorrow and throw in some interval training...and finish with a strong last mile... and Wednesday would either bike or swim if you can...if not do a short fast run...and personally, I do better with a really mellow day two days before such as a hike or a spin on the cruiser bike....and then on the day of the race just get pumped up for your big race the next day! taking off the few days before will help to assure your legs are fresh and ready to go on race day. I bet the race is in the flats too, right? if so, you will fly since you are used to running in the hills/mtns! One thing I do want to recommend is eating a good nutritious breakfast before you run...it makes a big difference in your performance.

Cant wait to read your race report!

well, the new plan for the week (tee hee) is to perhaps do a 6.2 tomorrow for my regular run, then on wednesday and thursday just do 2 or 3 miles each day, then take friday and saturday off. i'm not swimming just now because the lake is too cold, and i'm too cheap to join a gym (the only gym within an hours drive of here has a crappy pool anyhow) and i haven't been cycling because it's freaking cold!! yay nicole and you others who can bike in the cold, but i'm a giant baby!! LOL
so it's run run run lyssa as fast as you can!! that's my projected plan for the week anyway.

julee, i think my dh threw the box with your addy on it out, can you pm me your mailing? thanks dear.

Hi,

My home internet is fracked up. They came yesterday and said that a part outside the house needs to be replaced and that they will be back on Wednesday to do the fix. Hopefully we'll be all set tomorrow night. For now, I only have access while at the office.

I leave work in about an hour for my long awaited appointment with the new hand doctor. Hopefully this guy will be competent, unlike the first guy. I'm thinking that the best outcome for me would be for them to take a new x-ray and have definitive evidence that I've got a bone fracture. That would mean that we don't have to do additional tests and wait for results and additional appointments. Of course, the last thing in the world I want is to be stuck in a cast for 8-12 weeks. I'm thinking that the down time from surgery would be less. Back in October when I went to the first hand guy I was OK with the idea of shutting down the training for the rest of the year, but right now I'm solidly gearing back up and don't to disrupt that. Who knows, maybe it's just more tendonitis, but there's definitely something wrong with my wrist.
