He's out on the bike course now, looking great, happy! He did look a little lost out of the water but once he made it through transition he was great. Now I'm gonna run...

Early morning 10 miler...

Looks like Gabe's on the bike making his way to the half way mark.

My first race is exactly one month away - an olympic - and I just learned it's a mass start.  I've never done one before - always waves or timed.  Any advise or feedback on how to approach this?  Or is it just like a wave only really big?

That was a good swim time. 1:24:26. I'd be pleased with that. Now to see what he can do on the bike. :-)

Don't panic if you don't see updates coming in on ironmanlive, it always sucks... I'll keep the gang posted, as for myself, I only did a 30 and change minute run because I am exhausted from a horrible sleep on a hotel mattress and being an ironman Sherpa. Watching this race is more tiring than doing it!

Gabe is halfway through bike. 4:31'24" total race time. Nice and easy on the bike at 18.7 mph. I think Ernesto is taking a nap.

60 miles 3hr 24' on the bike.

Gabe's pacing looks good so far.  Short T1.  The second bike split will be telling.

And off he went to the third loop of the marathon, the one that REALLY hurts, it is very lonely out there after passing the section with all the spectators so a lot of mental strength is required to make it through. This where your real reasons for racing will surface and your soul is exposed. The true spirit of the Ironman, overcoming hardship to get a big prize. He looked great all throughout the race! It is very likely that he will go under 13 too!

I did the math too and saw that 13 hr number but didn't want to jinx it.  Been following him throughout the day and waiting to see that 25 mile split online.
