Sensei ![]() | ![]() How come massages from your SO go the way of the dinasaurs after the wedding (or dating for a while?)... At least for me. It's like once you get them hooked, the massages disapear. Granted, I don't give them to her much either. OTOH, I NEVER really got them - or they were so disapointing, I told her to stop. Better to pay for it, no? |

Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() A silly question for those of you that have traveled alone:
How do you handle things like going to the beach and getting in the water? Do you just trust that nobody is going to mess with your stuff, or what? Call me crazy, but I'm leery of leaving a wallet and stuff on the beach while I go for a swim.
I guess the same thing goes for racing.... if you don't have anyone with you at the race, what do you do with your hotel key? I suppose I can just put it in the bento box on my bike. Is there typically a "gear drop" at WTC events? |

Is there typically a "gear drop" at WTC events? i keep a minimal amount of crap with me, and just trust that it won't get stolen. it's the same when i'm with my husband - we walk away from our stuff together to go swim/get food/whatever. leave your hotel key in your transition gear. easy peasy. |

Is there typically a "gear drop" at WTC events? I took my travel purse (shoulder style so I could walk/shop with it ON MY BODY) with me to the pool/beach and set it under my chair. Just kept an eye on it when I sauntered off. I was more worried about the hotel staff taking stuff from my room so I didn't leave anything in there, ever. Racing yes just stash it on your bike or in your transition bag. I've never seen a gear drop at a triathlon, except for full Ironman (and maybe one half, I think Austin had one) morning clothes bag drop. Edited by lisac957 2013-02-08 12:51 PM |

I think we just keep an eye on it? But if someone runs up and grabs it and takes off, no way I could catch them. If I'm really concerenced I first leave behind absolutely everyting of value except for the absolute essentials. Once or twice I got a ziplock, but a couple valuables in it a just secretely buried it 6" under mytowel (DON'T FORGET IT!). Any theives would take what they can grab and not think to start digging. As for races, I just leave stuff in my bento box/tool bag or in my transition bag, or my pocket of my clothes I put in my morning clothes bag (if they have one). |

I'm in the same camp as Lisa in that I wouldn't trust leaving valuables in the hotel room, so I think I might just do the burying thing. I can't believe it's been so long since I've gone to beach that I actually have to put thought into this. |

Sensei ![]() | ![]() I don't fear the hotel room as much. Use the safe if they have one, or hide valuables in your luggage. Plus, it may not be MUCH different, but if it goes missing from the room, you can at least go to the hotel and track down the people that may have been in there. If someone does a grab and dash on the beach? You have ZERO recourse. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Remember about a week ago when a driver dumped 100+ carts out the back of his trailer. Well, this week as I am attempting to walk out the door, here comes another driver, but he decided that his 20,000 lb tractor trailer will not sink in the soft grass that he drove off in and buried it in the yard. Not the gravel entrance of the paved dock area, the soft grassy area. OMFG!!!!!

As long as he isn't blocking access to the dock, I'd just sit back and laugh at him a while Is it just me, or has the general quality/ability of truck drivers gone down a lot? |

Oh, man... that sucks! Any security cameras in the garage? No cameras, darn it. Anyone have experience with Progressive claims? I have been with them for ~11 years now and this is the first claim. They better cover the repair. It's entirely cosmetic, but it's a brand new truck <5000 miles on it. I think it was the valet parking pukes. I left the truck in the garage and rode home last night. Those pukes have no regard for the cars their parking. They most certainly did it.

As long as he isn't blocking access to the dock, I'd just sit back and laugh at him a while Is it just me, or has the general quality/ability of truck drivers gone down a lot? He was blocking all 5 docks. After a lot of work and us laughing at him a LOT, he finally got unstuck. Then it took him another 30 minutes to figure out how to turn around and about did it again. He was really short, maybe he couldn't see over the steering wheel, or look out the windows and see the mirrors. Some drivers are great. Others, don't even know how to unhook their own tractor from the trailer. Scary that they are behind the wheel of 60,000 lbs or more going down the road at 70 mph. |
