I can't believe it. I am sitting at my computer at home wondering what to do. I just got let go from work. Completely blindsided me. No warning that is was coming or anything.
I know I'm kind of in shock but what the f@#$ am I suppose to do. 56 years old and out of work. How do you explain something like that to your family.

Hey Bob, great to have you back!  We were commenting on how our group has shrunk so it's really nice to hear from you. Sorry you had such a hard time this season.  It sounds like you are back on track.  Maybe we can do SavageMan together next year!

Baowolf, $180 for a wetsuit?  Where did you find one that cheap?! Is it a full suit?

Check out this link for XTERRA Wetsuits.  Their 50% off sale officially ended yesterday, but I just used the link and it's still showing the lower prices.  These are excellent wetsuits!

Dang man, I'm sorry to hear that.  From what I've heard from others in similar situations, what helped them get through it the most was that they made finding a job their job and hit it full time.  Who knows, maybe you'll find something even better than the job you had.  Our prayers are with you.

Sorry to hear that, it's never easy to get that news.  Glad to see you got a severance to hold you over.  Will they also help with a job placement service?

Yeah they will help with job placement. I'm still going to get some advice as to whether I should just accept the severnce or fight them for wrongful dismissal. I have had to do this with other of my previous employees and there is a long process to letting someone go which includes putting them on a performance improvement plan. Not that I would have ever accepted it but who knows. I'll talk to my lawyer in a day or two.

WTF!!! HOLY CRAP!  OMG!!!  SO SORRY TO HEAR THIS!  While I am sure you are in shock your tone between the 2 post are extremely different!  It sounds like it may have been for the best, and it sounds like you will be just fine... IF NOT BETTER!  My sister in law always taught me not to be so quick to react!  Things aren't always as bad as they seem... (EASY TO SAY WHEN YOU JUST LOST YOUR JOB RIGHT )  Just think now you have time to explore, train, relax (sort of).... AND FIND SOMETHING THAT YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH!  Your dream job is out there...

I am thinking of you and praying for you!  But know you will be fine.

Rob, I am very sorry to hear the news.... My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  I have been sweating it with my job as well since we have had such a slow down in hiring (and I am a recruiter, yikes).  I am hoping things pick up soon since I am really sweating it with a newborn.

Best of luck!

Good morning.  I hope today is a brighter day for everyone.  I see from the schedules that this weekend Matt is running a 15K and Tony is the bike portion of the Nations tri. Did  I miss anyone?  Best of luck to everyone.  Is anyone else doing anything fun and exciting?  I am volunteering for a local HIM on sunday.  It will be exciting to be on the other side of the event.  Have fun out there and be safe

I'm a little hesitant to post this given the other job news recently, but it's pretty big so here it goes.  My boss recieved our salary matrix for our annual raises last week and we met this morning to go over it.  Based on my performance evaluation and under normal circumstances, I would have gotten 5% and been on my way. Really nothing to complain about but not enough for my wife to continue to stay home.  He knows I've been looking around and apparently doesn't want to lose me.   He and the director were able to get an exception from HR and I've been promoted to "lead" a year ahead of eligibility and received a 22% raise.

Holy S@# Congratulations on the huge raise. I can't remember ever hearing anyone get that big a raise unless it was a politician who approved his/her own raise

My 15k race report is up.  Not much to report really -  showed up, ran 9.3 miles, ate some watermelon and some cookies, went home and tried to take a nap.  Really great event with the best post-race spread and festivities I've done yet.

Thanks, that pace felt pretty good.  I think running and chatting w/ someone faster helped keep the mind off the pace.  I'm just doing a half marathon (just?? I guess compared to a marathon it's 'just') on the 28th of this month.

This weekend went by so fast, today feels like Saturday.  If it weren't for the stupid Seahawks being on today, I might not have known to go to work tomorrow.

Ok so I have to share a story... I was trail running w/ my buddy yesterday... 3 hours of running, only 11 miles, but almost 5k feet of climbing... Anywho... Really hard, but about 8 miles into the run we come around the corner, and 25 yards from us in the middle of the trail... A BLACK BEAR just staring at us.. I think he was more spooked than we were, but i did crap my drawers... We backed up about 50 yards, and waited for him to pass..  Then we sprinted through that section of trail!  WOW!  Now that it is over... It was really cool... But I guess that is what makes trail running, trail running...

LOL, I would have hauled a$$ through there as well.

Did my relay this weekend, I really need to figure out what my limits are.  I held back and didn't push it as hard as I should, then about mile 20 I realized I only had 5 miles left so I rode pretty hard.  I should have done that the whole race.

I guess that is why I am a Beginner Triathlete, one of these years I will figure out how hard/fast to go.

Big Tri 3000+ people.  Alot of new people via TNT so was kind of interesting out there on the course passing and dodging people, turns were especially scary as people almost came to a complete stop before turning.  I had to yell at a few people about getting over as they were just hanging out on the left side of the road even after I said "on your left".  LOL I said that so much I wish I would have brought a tape recorder and just replayed it the whole time I rode.

Hey Matt sounds like you had a good race. I'm sure you weren't running as fast as Steve going through that area where the bear was. Good thing there wasn't any cubs with the bear.

Remember when dealing with bears you don't have to run the fastest to get away. Only faster than the person with you
