I'm so sick of sad sh*t in life..  Came into the office this morning to see an email from our CEO..  One of my coworkers that I talk to on a daily basis lost her 19yo son this weekend in a car accident..  Another co-worker that I don't know as well son was injured in the accident..  Sucks all around

I hear ya....  I almost expect any phone call and every time I log onto BT, that the other shoe is going to drop.  Or should I say shoe store with all that's been going on....

Is it that BT is getting THAT big or are things just going really really really badly right now???

I think there has been a streak of misfortune, but I also think that once a couple people start talking about stories of loss, others take the lead and start to mention it more.

The recent loss of BTer's and/or their direct relationships have hit us hard.  But then I have seen a couple threads of loss of people not even related.  People are just on a "lets start threads about loss" right now.

I also get a little tired of the stories of people drowning or getting hit by cars.  I KNOW that happens - it sucks, I don't need to be brought down about it.

I'm not trying to sound callus, but BT has kind of turned into a depository of sad stories.  That seems to be the "in" topic a little, IMO.

I think it's a bit of both, but it does seem like a lot of the people that have had bad things happened to them as of late have been around here for a while.  It could also be that people feel more comfortable about sharing such info with "strangers".  The increase in bike accidents and tri deaths, I think that's more of an increase in tri popularity (not the original question, but seems like we're hearing a lot more about that too).

I think that it also may be that people feel the need to "talk" about bad things that happen - to get them out, whereas, they are content to let good things happen without "needing to talk about it".

I kind of thing people like attention - and sometimes posting negative or sad stories gets them that loving/sensitive attention.

lvthgme - 2008-07-28 11:47 AM GAH! Meetings allll morning! Now open gym. How am I supposed to TAN when I'm busy? I'm so annoyed!

Don't you just hate it when people expect you to work at your job instead of TAN, especially after that long Nebraska winter?

So are you done yet????  Is everything signed, sealed, delivered and finalized??

*NOT QUITE*

The 30-day mandatory wait is passed, and the file has been turned over to the judge for final review. Should be soon (I HOPE) since it's uncontested with no requested court hearing.

I'm gonna start calling about status updates in the morning.

Got a set-up-type get together this evening. Should be fun, certainly looking forward to it.

Agreed... sometimes folks just feel more secure throwing stuff out to folks that aren't a physical part of their lives... anonymity can just feel safe sometimes... and can, I think, be helpful... hopefully once the ice is broken in an anonymous fashion... it will be easier to share with folks in the real world...

An attetion .. in CoJ????  INCONCEIVABLE!!!

Although I'm sure I've been an attention at some point...

Heh, me too!

But some people just LOVE the "poor me" attention IMO and use any nagative feeling or events to try and elicit responses.

Good post for # 4k!!!!!!

I agree.  Someplace to vent - and feel "safe" is important.  Kind of a "confessional".

I think you are right.. people are more open in CoJ/TAN then they may be with the people they deal with in day to day life..

Also people in CoJ/TAN listen (most times), whereas other people IRL are often not really listening.  Sometimes people hijack a thread, but I can tell you from personal experience many of the people around me hijack conversations all the time.  But no one wants me to go there with the total breakdown of relationships in our society, so I won't.

We're in that final sprint to the finish............

Ok.. so tell me about the girl you are being set up with tonight..

Teacher and former flight attendant (win!), tall-ish, blonde-ish, great body, VERY cute. Emailed back and forth a couple of times, talked for a bit yesterday. Good times.

Dang it, now I'm starting to get a little nervous about this...

TAN is the definition of a hijack thread, no?  I get surprised when a conversation can even span a page or two!  (unless it's talking about food or sex - then we get about a dozen pages....)
