bragging a bit...

Last evening at the BEA (Booksellers International Convention) Publishers gathered for their annual Ben Franklin Award ceremony sponsored by the Independent Book Publishers Association. These awards are open to all publishers and the more than half a million books published in 2009, regardless of the publisher's size or clout.  All the major NY publishers as well as Independents are eligible.

In the "religion/religious issues" category, my mom's book Welcome them Home won the award as the best religious book published in 2009.!!

Sheesh, my parents set the bar high.  Both PHD's leaders in their fields, award winning authors...

Maybe I should read her book too.

Kido - 2010-05-25 10:47 AM I'm starting to get tired.  Working on 8-9 hours sleep....   over the last two night combined.  I like 9-10 in just one night, if I can get it.

I'm rocking 8.5 over the last two days. I tried a 5 hour energy and it did ok. I was able to get my lunch work out in, now I just need to get my run in after work.

I'd like to read this book...I'm just astounded by the award given here...it's so not easy to write a book. I freelance wrote for a time, and it is not easy to even get a simple article published...to have someone even look at it is a feat. I really think it's extraordinary, your mom's accomplishment.

I'm super proud of her.  I was not a fan growing up, though.  We sort of didn't get along - and we STILL have political views that are about 180 degrees apart.  Nothing out of the norm though for mom/1st born.  But she has really grown and matured (if that sounds strange).  She got rid of us kids and came into her own!  She needed to be something other than just a hard working mom/nurse.  She needed to do something for HER.  And she is amazing because of it.

EZ swim at lunch and then back here for a couple hours.  Then a nice run outside.  It's PERFECT out today.  Low 80's, no clouds, no wind...
