Thanks Ted & Marci!!

I wanted to go Sub 1:30 and I did it!!!  Exhilarating...glad to have accomplished another goal!!

Ted, Great job on your 10K! Sounds like one hilly course!

DC!!...congrats on the 10K PR!

Just ran into this quote in an article...love it....

"Don't underestimate yourself. Whether it's finally running that first 5K without stopping, contorting yourself into a complicated pose for yoga, hiking to the top of a mountain, or doing an Ironman, your body is capable of it. You only need to identify what it is you want, work toward it, get the support of friends and family, and — most importantly — BELIEVE IT! It no longer matters if anyone can do it. What truly matters is that YOU can do it."

I am going to take a couple of months and focus on getting stronger and hopefully more lean in the process. I will not abandon S, B, R, but I will adjust my focus a bit. I feel that this is the key for me to step it up a notch or three.

Hey guys and gals. Lots of schtuff going on in my business life. Sorry I've been away from the Group for a while.

Rene, wow, what an impressive feat. I chased this same goal for many years, and it took me many tries. It also took just the right weather and feeling great on just the right day. Congratulations for a very rare feat. Savor this PR!!!

I didn't race this weekend, but I will be racing a Sprint this coming weekend. I really wanted to get a 70.3 distance race in this fall, but it just didn't happen. But honestly, (aside from losing two race fees worth of money!!) I am just happy I had a succesful Ironman in July.

I am also thrilled Greg and Rene had succesful Ironmans; and that YOU Marcia had a very succesful first 70.3

I was also glad to see Ted have a succesful Olympic race after taking a sabbatical early in the Summer!!

And I am glad to see Mike persevering through his Rehab; and I hope 2012 will be a big comeback season for him as well.

I will be joining George this Fall/Winter in my unending quest to 'get lean'.

As for Fall Races, yeah - racing my club's host event this Sunday: the Cedar Beach Triathlon. And then commencing Philly Marathon training, where I will attempt to Qualify for Boston. Followed by a few road races in December.

Anyone else Racing again this year??

Sounds good everyone!  I don't have any races planned for the remainder of the year.  I have to admit I am not a big fan of running races.  I find there's too much 'stand around' time before the race and because EVERYONE seems to wear an ipod it isn't as social as triathlon.  So I'm just going to run... for the fun of it... more frequently.  I'm curious to see just how much volume I can build up to.  I said I'd *never* run a full marathon and I don't think I would enter a race but I would be curious to get to that volume and see how it feels.  Also want to try and get 3 swims in a week and return to resistance training in the popular pursuit for a lean body!!  And then also try to fit in Jorge's cycling plan for the winter.   Thing with SBR is it doesn't leave you with much time for anything else.  On my shopping list is a skipping rope.  It's supposed to be great for your core and I think I'd like to try to get in to it.  We'll see!

Good luck this weekend Bobby!!  You'll be like lightening!
And sorry to hear about the work challenges - try to keep your mind open.  With risk comes reward and this may be happening for a reason - new opportunities, a chance to change things for the better.  "What you begin is just a bridge to something you can't yet see".  I read that recently and really liked it!

Sorry you weren't able to race Poconos!  Coincidentally I have a stomach bug too!!  I was suppose to go run after work on Friday and I was too tired and lethargic.  I went home and layed down.  When my wife woke me up an hour later I puked 3 times! Ack!!  Have been trying to recover since!  Hope you feel better and hope you build up the strength to slaughter Cedar Beach next weekend!

I have a Marathon Relay planned for this weekend (Sunday).  Two of us are having health issues, so we will see how things go. :-)

So I'm embarrassed to say after 3 years on this site I STILL don't know what a PR is!  I think it's the equivalent to 'personal best' but why not say PB then???

Don't be embarrassed to ask a question. There is so much to learn about tri's, racing, nutrition and plenty of acronyms to be tossed around. Hard to keep up at times. Just when you think you are right on top of things, someone tosses some more lingo around. That is why groups like this are so valuable...at times we all learn together.

I have 2 sprint Du's on the schedule for the rest of the year. One at the end of this month(It's actually the first race I ever did) and an Xterra in November. Also have a 10 miler in the beginning of January called "Run to the Brewery" (my wife has since renamed "Ted's Run" ) as I'm hoping to get 2012 off on the right foot.

Absolutely!! The race ends at The Bluepoint Brewery so I've started training with their seasonal ale. As the weather gets colder I'll work in some sets of IPA's and Stouts....Oh wait, that's not what you meant. Never mind. Laughing

Great RR Rene! That was crazy fast and that last pic proves you left it all out there on the course!

How'd your daughters do in their race?

SOOOOoo proud of them!  They did GREAT!  This was a district race (6-8 schools) and only the top 10 in each grade advance to the city meet.  My 9 year old placed 10th and my 6 year old took 5th!!  We celebrated by going to Dairy Queen after.  :-)  Great day!
