Hi - drive by again!

Arm hurts way more today from Monday's vaccinations. I can barely move it. Hoping this is normal.
Toe hurt a lot yesterday.

Hangry today.

Snowing again this morning.

That is all

It's normal and should be feeling better by tomorrow.

Did you ever fix your toe either stitches or liquid skin?

Doc wouldn't put in stitches. Liquid skin won't keep it from popping open in the shower - totally gross. Just have to let it heal I guess??

To whoever asked - yes still in Kanzass. Today should be the last of the snow. Baaah.

Good morning TAN.

Tired again today.  Can't seem to catch up.  Studied a bit last night and made my second batch of home brew called "superior strong ale".  It's got a kicked up alcohol content (like twice the typical amount).  Can't wait to try it.  But alas, it's at least a month away and the longer you wait, the better it gets.

Good morning  Day TAN.

That sounds good Jim.  What was your OG reading?   Did you get a pre done kit or build it yourself?  I might get an IPA done this weekend if all is good.   I just racked a brown ale to secondary this weekend and a red wine kit, so my primary fermenters are empty.  Also thinking about a quick white wine kit for the wife to enjoy this summer on the deck.

I just looked it up.  Once you bottle it, Bring it up my way and we shal test it to see if you are willing to swim and windsurf in my lake.  wetsuit suggested.

I sort of did both.  I looked at the kit contents but went to my local brewer shop and talked to them and basically got exactly the same ingredients with a few mods.  OG was 1.066 at a quick glance.  I decided to keep the name since it was the basic recipe.

I made a rule for my beer making - to make it easy and fun.  I was too much a scientist with my wine making.  Taking all kinds of SG reading and temp and doing the calculations...  But why?  When it came down to it, I just drank what I made regardless of the SG!

Same with my beer.  I'm going to drink it regardless, so I do a quick reading, don't take temp in consideration, and just estimate to the nearest percent of alcohol, just for the fun of knowing.

Side note:  My tastes have been changing a bit.  I love a good aroma hops.  The smell is wonderful, but I have to be careful with my bittering hops selection and boil time.  I'm not a fan of overly bitter bear, so IPA's are down on my list.  I think I'm putting my focus on Belgian Ales mostly.

So, ever try to bottom ferment a lager?

I have not done any lagers, I can't control the temp enough to make it work well and I am not that patient.  I agree on the KISS concept with making things, I use basic measurments to help ID causes to any flaws in the finished product.  One brew was .o20 off target and I could not save it, sad day...

It's probably lunch time. Us HR folk take a 2 hour lunch....then we have to mess around on the interwebz (as policies don't apply to us) after that.....then we walk around with a clipboard making eye contact with people and write stuff on the notepad (it's usually just our grocery lists) but that's just to keep the minions scared.....then it's close to 5, so we wrap things up, delete e-mails and voicemails.

Then come in at 9 the next morning....coffee until 10:30, walk around more, then lunch......then repeat.

I didn't need the SG reading to know this one was going to be strong.  There was 50% more malt extract and 50% more malted barley.  The wort almost felt thick!  LOTS of suger...  Can't wait, but I have to be patient.  6-8 weeks probably for something good.  But I'm sure I will be trying it in about 4.  Give it about 1 week in the bottle after 3 in the fermentor.

Saturday.....

That's the day we come in about 10 minutes before the CEO and leave about 30 seconds after he does.....so he thinks that we work on weekends.
