Chocolate martini recipe:

1 1/2 shots chocolate liqueur (I recommend Godiva)
1 1/2 shots creme de cacao
1/2 shot vodka
2 1/2 shots half and half

That sounds like something i would REALLY like!

They go down pretty easy.

mmm I love milky choclatey/caramelly type drinks but you can only drink so many.. that one sounds like I could have a few ezxtras before feeline woozy...

Spokes - 2008-11-25 4:01 PM I'm thinking it simply might be my LOOK pedals that are messing up my leg more than anything... I rode the spin bike over the weekend and the leg is feeling better... so (I don't have the right wrench) I may take the LOOKs off of the single speed and put the cages and straps back on, and from riding the MTB with SPDs it went really well tonight. I can put SPD cleats on my road shoes... and put a new pair of SPD pedals on my road bike. Back to where I started. LOL

Have you got Look Grey or REd? The Greys have like NO float and are bad for your knees... Speedplay pedals have the most float...

Im switching to Red cleats as soon as I get to the LBS to alleviate my knee issues...

I have the Red... and that's what I was riding in.

I think its more the twisting in and out of motion that LOOKS are giving me issues on.

The more upright position of the mountain bike is better anyway.

If thats what works for you then go for it... especially when it comes to commuting... the goal there is to get from point A to point B the best way for you so I see no issue... if you like being upright go for it...

You know, Cat, I'm never going to be a fast racer - I'm starting to reach the point that I really don't give a poo if I race at all. Its about being in good shape and controlling my weight now. I would ride my bike even if triathlon did NOT exist.

hehe youve said that before... Ive never seen a problem with it.. some people ride bikes because they are motivated by competition, some ride them because its there and it can and it brings them joy, some do it because its a social activity...

Of those that race, some race others, some race only themselves, and some just want to finish...

Really doesnt matter why you ride... if you enjoy it do it... if you dont then dont

It always makes me nuts on the Triathlon forum when people will say "well, you'd be a lot faster if you did (fill in the blank)" but almost all of those folks are people who were good athletes either in high school or college if they're older. There's a reason some of us got picked last for pickup basketball, or touch football... its because we sucked at physical things and its no more complicated than that. The point is... and I've said it often before... why kill yourself for marginal racing gains if a) its not fun and b) you're not, realistically, ever going to be at the front of the pack?

Faster is relative.. if you are really slow you can still get faster, maybe not world beating... but faster than you are now...

Some people will kill themselves for marginal gains because they like to race themselves and beat their last times whether they be FOP or BOP doesnt matter to them... others will race undertrained because they are doing it for fun and to be BOP to them is just part of that enjoyment...

I know Id like to get faster on a bike... even though I know Im only ever going to be MOP at best if I train properly... its a matter of what you enjoy...

On the flip side Im quite happy to walk an entire run and loose all the place gains I made in the bike because when it comes to running achievement Im not as motivated and am happy just to finish... finishing to me is the key and apart from that I dont care so much..

Everyone has a different goal... if for your going faster isnt your goal then it doesnt matter what other people think... you take the advice that suits what you want to know and dont take what doesnt... thats just being clever

Hi Nibbs. I really shouldn't be around much today, tomorrow and of course, on Thanksgiving. If I appear more than infrequently, please scold me and tell me to get back to cleaning

Rant ahead....

Dear cretin in the 7th grade,

You are a 78 lb prepubescent dweeb.  My daughter is a 5'5" tall child weighing 127 lbs.  Last I looked that is a normal bmi.  She is not fat.  You are a jerk.  She comes from a very long line of obese people but she is not obese, she is not even fat.  Don't go putting your weakling body iage issues on a normal sized child...you'll be answering to her tough as nails triathlete mother who will procede to knock you into next week

I had to spend some time talking her through it but she's better.  I showed her the Mila-like letter in my blog and she gave me a hug.

Judi - Im so sorry but with you around she will come out of it. You are such a good role model with the exercise and living a balanced life so Im sure she will subconsciously picjed up your own good habits.

On the flip side if she ever needs a bit of a lift I know my Mum did a few little things while I was a teenager - one was take me for my first manicure/pedicure... another was take me to a salon for a haircut from a really great stylist... sounds silly but a bit of pampering seems to work for teenage girls as well as it does grown ups

That sux, Judi. I can relate as I was always a foot taller than the other kids (boys and girls) in middle school and of course, I was much heavier than they were. Hope you can convince her she's okay. Hugs to your daughter.

I just don't work as hard on it. I have decent workouts planned, just not motivated to push it. I find climbing hills and speedy descents far more inspirational than spinning in my living room in front of the tv Oh well. Enough whining and time to JUST DO IT

I'm having difficulty finding the motivation for the trainer.  If only I could get a 10 degree temperature increase I could handle some outdoor rides.  Hmmmm...or maybe a new bike would motivate me.  I wonder if I'm on Santa's naughty list or his nice list?
