ceilidh - 2012-05-29 5:36 PM A doomed run. I started out without the electronics working and on the dreadmill. Then I slipped and the mill kicked me off. scraping the heck out of my knees. Then I tried to finish outside, tripped again. There will be bruising. Just means I have to buy a new dress for the wedding that will cover the knees.
Ouch.  So did you find a new dress for the wedding?

So... they aren't going to replace the douche bag that left last week. Due to company budget cuts, they cut the position. I am going to be the lone network engineer here. It means more work, and responsibility for me here, but it's not a bad thing. My boss was going to pull one of the server guys over here, and honestly I wasn't thrilled about working with him. He thinks he knows more than he really does, and we have disagreed over several issues, and he was the one who was wrong. I think/hope it will be for the best.

Way to look on the bright side.  And now you don't have to spend any time redoing or directing another person.  Just do it right the first time yourself.

Good morning Ghoulies!

Today is the day I was supposed to be off, and I was going to hike lots of miles on the AT. Last night on the way home from softball practice my daughter called a friend from her class, they were organizing who was bringing what snack, and her friend told her the field trip was cancelled and they weren't making it up. My daughter was almost in tears. I told her we could go hiking on Sunday, but she didn't want to. Then I told her that I already had the day off, and she could skip school and I'd take her hiking. She did like that idea. When we got home my husband said he heard the voicemail and the trip was rescheduled for Tuesday. So she is going to school today. I am working today. We are going hiking on Tuesday.

They are calling for rain today, and severe storms this afternoon, so it probably wouldn't be best to have a bunch of 3rd graders out in that. Last day of school is Thursday, so if they don't get it done Tuesday they won't get it done.

I hope that you get the hike in today.  We are looking at storms here.

Morning Ghoulies!

Long weekend of THE WEDDING. It went off very well. I am glad that everyone is gone home and we can now get the house recovered and start getting my Mom's house ready so I can leave on Friday to get her up here for the summer.

Oh ya, and catch up on work.

Glad to know the wedding went well.  We too were at a wedding on Sunday evening up on Lake Lanier.  It was beautiful.

I had a nice weekend.  Friday ran around with errands and finished a book and took a walk in the evening.

Saturday, I went to watch my tennis team play.  Then hubby and I did a couple of errands and picked up the movie Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.  It was very touching and we liked it.

Sunday was a very lazy day.  Did work in the yard and do laundry, but otherwise read until we had to go to a wedding up at Lake Lanier.  We only knew the groom, his parents and his sister, but we ended up having a really good time.

Monday was the day from he double hockey sticks at work.  The computers had been down all weekend, so we had two days worth of books to get checked in and shelved not counting the books coming in on Monday, along with phones ringing off the hooks because people were concerned that their books had not been checked in and then to end the day we had a magician for the summer reading program with over 250 people in the building.  All in all everything went well considering.  Really can't complain.  All the staff pitched in and got the work done.

I expect today to go much smoother.  Plus I get to go over to another branch for a goodbye party for a staff member who is moving to Montana.  Big change there.

Sounds like a nice and busy weekend follwoed by a frenetic Monday. Glad to see you are taking care of your back. (Is the upcoming whitewater trip... is that doctor approved? )

FWIW, I didn't get a new dress for the wedding, I just figured that no one would be looking at my legs with all the beautiful scenery and bride around.

Good Morning Ghoulies!  We are back from another fantastic weekend with our friends in eastern Washington (read drier & sunnier).  Had a great time!  I did get in some workouts with walking, jogging, and horseback riding.  We rode trails up a canyon and thru some hills.  Beautiful

Hi Robin.

Did you smack anyone this weekend?

Luckily, no. After the "Friday Rehearsal Event" was done, things got easier. That was the event that we had to deal with here, buy food, prep and cook food, tote food, dishes, serving stuff, flowers, etc to the location - (the brides parents house !!!), set up, clean up and tote it all home for final clean up here. The clash was that that all this was happening in my home, but my cousin needed to be "in charge". It is difficult to be in charge when you don't know where anything is and won't ask. Also, not knowing where or how to get to the venue. Oh, and then being an emotional wreck, too. After that was done, it was just recapping. Then we had the rest of the folks staying here show up so there that had a nice dilution factor for emotions. AND.... The folks here had enough fodder from the other family to focus on. We spend a GREAT deal of time laughing..... at their expense. The wedding was particularly beautiful, both in scenery and the ceremony so it worked out over all.... luckily.

Glad that you survived the weekend.  Hope the clean-up for mom goes smoothly

Good morning Ghoulies!

Got a 7 mile hike in yesterday. It was a good day for hiking, not too hot or humid, a nice breeze was going. It was a good day to be out.

Glad that you had a good hike on Sunday.  Did the field trip for the kiddo happen today?

Good afternoon Ghoulies!

I'm going to start with last night. My daughter's softball team played the York Springs team (their home field is 2.4 miles from my house). The YS team was 6-0 and we were 4-0 going into the game. It was a nail biter. We came out and scored 3 in the first inning. They answered back with 3 in the second inning. Our girls couldn't make an out to save their lives. The third inning was scoreless. We held them in the fourth, then came back to score 1 in the bottom of the fourth to win the game. Our girls were pumped, and they didn't give up. Too stressful for me.

Today...

I got up early and went up to where I was meeting the buses for the hike. I hiked 6.9 miles in the other direction. I kept a fast pace, and I only took a light pack. I wanted to make sure I was back in plenty of time to meet up with the kiddos. When I got back to my car I changed everything but my pants and shoes, I was sweat soaked. I had about an hour until the kids got there, thought they'd be there earlier, but one of the girls showed up at school today wearing flip flops, so the teachers went classroom to classroom to try and find a pair of sneakers she could borrow. Grrrr. I ate and rested while I waited.

The papers they send home say it's a 4 mile hike. It was 4.8. The kids did pretty well. At least my group did, they were near the front the entire time. I took my SAR pack on that part of the hike, I wanted a good first aid kit. Glad I did. About 3 miles in a kiddo in front of us tripped on a rock and split his knee wide open. I took him off to the side of the trail and cleaned up up and steri-stripped his knee. We were behind then. The class stopped not far up the trail though for the next part of the class work so we were good.

I was going to hike back to my car then, but I hoped a ride in a bus. I had some blisters, and my knee was starting to bother me. It was a good day though. I'm tired. My daughter is tired. I don't think we will be doing much tonight.

I bet you are tired. That was some hiking you did yesterday. Sounds like the kiddos had a good time over all. Love the pic you posted of the "wild life'. How come you couldn't sleep after all that exercise and outdoor air? Sounds like a nail biter game the other night, too. That makes for a great game rather than a pure route on either side. Watching a game like that can be a cardio workout, too.

I was tired. I wanted to go to bed at 6:00 last night. I couldn't get comfortable though, my legs were twitching and spasming all night. I'm wearing compression sleeves on my calves right now, hopefully they'll settle down so I can sleep tonight.
