Master 3022 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed sirgab - 2013-01-27 1:27 PM Congrats on a great race! Awesome job!Just finished my race report from my half marathon race today. I finished in 1:46:06 (non-official yet) and am happy with my time since this is the toughest HM in Guatemala with over 1,200ft of climbing in a 5 mile segment. I was not expecting to PR, but was able to improve my time over last year's race by 4-5 min. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=476088 Happy Australia Day to all of our Aussie friends and hope that the weather gets better soon for some of you! |

I've been watching the Tour of Down Under for six days now, tomorrow (today for you) is the last stage. Cheers, mates! Cheers Ernesto! It's pouring like hell today here, not good for anything (other than the trainer), wind gusts are destructive and the state of Queensland is on flood alert... All streets around look like a mess from leaves and branches blown by the wind. Not exactly a happy Australia Day... Mark, from the news it looks like you guys are getting smashed by the storms etc. Stay safe! Greg Thanks guys. Yes, the smashing continues. Probably the strongest wind I have ever seen. one tree in our yard was sheared off the base and fell on the fence, other than that, no damage so far. |

Expert 1255 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Gabe, great HM with all those hills. Now I really feel wimpy! I loved the snow pic but I don't miss living in it. Greg, great aquathon. Please update your logs and race reports so we can all see. Mark, hope the weather is passing you by rapidly. Aussie friends, Happy Belated Australian Day. Charlotte, when life interferes and there is no other choice, do not beat yourself up about it. It only makes it worse. Just try to let the interference be the exception, rather than the rule. Mitch, I got my paces from the Hanson plan's Reference Table for Training Paces. Mine are in the attached file highlighted. I've run a 5K and 10K at 8:34 and a HM at 9:02 paces. I figured I was pretty safe with the 9:44 for the full. Maybe I'm wrong. Thanks everyone for all of your help and support. I thought I was back on track for the last two days, but today I de-railed again. I'll figure it out though, now that you told me this was normal! Jackie

Aussie friends, Happy Belated Australian Day .... Jackie Great effort Gabe. We're getting the rain that hit Mark yesterday, though fortunately without the winds. I'm feeling pretty poor today, think I have the bug my wife had the other day. Going to call a rest day today, hopefully it will be gone tomorrow. Jackie, I used the time to get some of my race journals up to date including the Canberra 70.3 in December (seems such a long time ago already!) Greg |

Expert 1480 Somewhere in the Swamps of Philly | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed Updating for workouts since Friday. Good news is that I ran two days consecutively for the first time in 2 months. Mathew, Greg & Gabe - great race results!! Jackie - Your training has been excellent and have confidence in it. However, the struggles you are having now may be an opportunity for you to reflect on your goals and determine whether it is achievable on terms you are comfortable with. I can't tell you whether the 4:15 goal is achievable, but you shouldn't let it cloud your effort and the nobility of the pursuit. After flubbing my first marathon, I wish I had been more prepared mentally and I let the pursuit of a goal cloud the achievement. A marathon is incredibly difficult and an impressive achievement. You will do great! Mitch Swim 3 - Bike 17 - Run 21 - Rest 5 - Total 41 Time 32:30:17 |

Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed 51 minute swim this morning. I am not used to swimming first thing in the morning so time was longer than it should of been. Normally about 2/100 but was 2:07/100. Ugggh... But I did feel that I was going fast so does that count? I pushed myself as well while trying to maintain form rather than breaking what I guess would be decent form for me. I guess I rather be better with the form and conserve energy rather than crappy form and wasting energy even though I might be a little slower. Make sense? Regular 789 | Subject: RE: Ernesto's group (5th season) - Closed So as Ernesto suggested for me that I look at 165mm cranks since i am 5'4 I have been but I'm not really finding much out there for what I consider to be a decent price. Ultegra 6750 cranks for 170mm are around $240. FSA Gossamer are around 150-180. For the 165mm in Ultegra I am finding $100 more and I haven't been able to find anything in 165 for FSA Gossamer. I know the FSA isn't nearly as good but the price is better for what my budget. Right now I am running ultegra crank, FD, and RD with 105 cassette. Anyone have suggestions? Should I just use the LBS where I am planning on getting fitted and see about them giving me a deal and trade in my Ultegra 175MM Standard crank? I had thought about buying my new crank and then selling the one I have on here or craigslist. |
