Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Thanks, Fred - this group has been great. (And I'll probably follow you to the next group, since my A race this year is my first HIM.) And thanks, Judi - although you've been kicking my azz for years now. Today - bike handling clinic - no worries that it's only 30 degrees out. And then a swim technique lecture. It's actually my rest day, so I'm just going to these events to learn stuff. With a little soccer mom behavior thrown in the middle. |

CLOSED Fred D - 2013-03-23 11:52 AM deehtz - 2013-03-22 7:40 PM I have truly enjoyed and benefited from this mentor group. The focus on consistency has been what I have needed and will continue to be my focus. Being consistent is my life mantra. Not sexy or flashy or impressive to everyone but it gets the results in my work, family and triathlon. This group can continue in the archives as many do if people wish. I'd love to continue with this group. Coming into this I was really struggling to get back into my training. By focusing on consistency first and foremost I now feel like I've got a really solid base and I'm making good progress towards my goals for the year. |

I've had a pretty bad week for food decisions, so still higher than I had hoped, but down from last week, so I guess that's a win.

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Fred D - 2013-03-23 11:53 AM Was going to ride outside today but am bailing as real feel is in the 20s. Hoping tomorrow afternoon. Getting excited about training more though. Weather is similar here. It's bitterly cold today, so much so that it's unpleasant being outside. Looks like it's going to be similar tomorrow, but hoping to get out on the bikes at some point. Otherwise we'll be spending the whole of tomorrow taking turns on the turbo... |

Champion 6107 Out running or enjoying a fine glass of red... | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Feel better, Suzy! Sorry to hear about the illness. The bike clinic I went to this morning was pretty cool - I got to practice riding in a group (on someone's wheel, next to someone's elbow, how to peel off, etc.), practice sharp turns & turns on hills, and balancing activities. The swim lecture was helpful, but probably just added to my list of things that I could probably work on... |

Member 108 | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Fred D - 2013-03-22 2:55 PM Hey guys, the new mentor groups are going to form again soon in April. I am planning on forming a new group that is focused on HIM distance tri specifically. Anyone and everyone is welcome, but I am going to (attempt) to see if I can recruit in folks with HIM focus. We can keep this one going if folks wish or we can join new groups. I am honestly going to focus on my two HIMs pretty seriously in the next 3 months. I truly thank everyone for being part of this group and especially Judi as this was a very low time in my triathlon career and BT specifically coming into this group but you have been a very positive influence on me going forward. Thank you Thanks Fred and Judi for leading such a great mentor group ! I really have learned a lot not only about tri training but about the whole tri lifestyle. It's been a huge help in keeping my training consistent esp with the training logs and Judi's daily inspires =) Thanks everyone for the encouragement, helping me with my accountability and your willingness to share your knowledge. I kinda wish I started tri training years ago =) Who would have though that BT would become one of my most frequently visited sites =) I am likely going to add another oly tri in early June and then think about something longer in the fall. I also feel fortunate to be able to train now with a small group of experienced tri friends so that I am constantly learning something new during our long ride/run sessions. If anyone here ends up in a race in Southern CA, please feel free to contact me and I will be more then happy to assist you in any way I can.

Extreme Veteran 692 England | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED Suzy - sorry to hear you've been sick. Hope you've recovered in time for the race. Any update yet? Fred - glad you got your ride in. Sadly the weather beat me today. I slept really badly last night and then was lying in bed this morning listening to the wind and decided I just didn't want it that much. We've had gale force winds and ice all day. In positive news I did a lactate threshold test on the turbo today and have improved my LT for the first time in over a year. I've definitely improved my ability to dig deep and push hard over the last few months. I then dragged myself out into the weather for a run doing hill repeats. Really wanted to wuss out after 5min when I had hail blowing straight into my face. That hurt! Fortunately it only lasted a minute or so and my buff saved me. Glad I stuck it out because I had a really good run. Hoping to make up for the long ride at the end of the week. We've got a long weekend over Easter. Hubby is off for 4 days. Annoyingly I get Friday and Monday off, but have to work Saturday and Sunday... |

Royal(PITA) 14270 West Chester, Ohio | Subject: RE: Fred D and Queen Zipp's SWIM, BIKE RUN consistency thread.... CLOSED I got stuck on my trainer because of sleet / rain/ snow mix. Did a tough interval set. My road bike has issues when I change from the little to big chain ring. Sometimes it switches right over and other times it balks and drops chain. This particular workout has a lot of switching between the rings and I had to get off 3 separate times to fix the chain. Anyone have thoughts on this? My cadence stayed consistent and I was careful to not "ask" the gears to change both front and rear rings simultaneously. Hit the gym for a circuit workout then did a short but intense swim. Good day of workouts. |
