Nothing wrong with a good sub!

Steak and cheese on wheat, thank you.

With some carmelized onions!
I got yer hoagie right here in my pants!
I don't like hoagies. Too much cheese.

Ever have a authentic philly cheese steak from, well, Philly?

In fact, I am currently in Philly, but alas, at an airport hotel. Geno's and Pat's are a bit tough to get to. Pat's is indeed the King of steaks. Tony Luke is a poser.Wit, wiz. Anything else is for sissies.

Can somebody bring me one of those please? I could probably use something to eat.

no word?

Nope. I hear it's not very good. Or, at least, it's different than what we eat here in Chicago.

I'm sure it's not very good.  But it is the original.  I like to always get the local grub, even if I know it's not that good, just to say I tried it.

For example, Cincinnati chili is not all that, but that's what they are famous for.

I have a friend from Cinci she brought me back some skyline chili on one of her trips back home. It was OK but it wasn't really chili.

Skyline is really overrated, I think.  The secret ingredient in their chili is chocolate.  It adds something, but not enough to make it "great".

I'm incredibly hungry now, however.

Afternoon TAN

Trying for the pre dead zone today. 15 minutes til I'm back on the mommy clock.

Does Wii Star Wars Legos count for video game time? I've spent many hours on that one

I have a version of that.  It was alright - but one I want to unload.

The 5 y/o cajoled me into those hours of gaming...I would rather read than play (video games).

Would that be like a first date? Laughing

If you're already friends, why not?  But seems odd if you don't know the guy and haven't hung out before. That's just me...I wouldn't meet up with a woman I don't know to see a movie. Blind date with a guy??? That's different. ha!

It shouldn't be, but yeah, weird.  A friend and I went to go see Avatar together and it was strange.

Funny thing is, if it was THREE guys, then it's suddenly cool again?  Weird.

I have seen plenty of movies by myself though.

Next tickets I could get that would work are on Sunday at 3:15 pm.  He said he can make that.

Kinda ridiculous huh?

I actually have no problem going alone, but he is a stay-at-home Dad, so he deserves a night at a guy movie every once in a while.

It really is no big deal.  I would do it.  It's just getting over the stigma or strangeness of it.  Why that should even be there in the first place, is probably pretty stupid.

It is.  Here is something that was strange.  My office went out for "movie afternoon" for a reward of getting a project done.  So half a dozen guys.  I would have NO issue sitting by them, but every single one put one seat between them and the other guy in our office.  We had 6 guys, and took 12 seats.  I just about sat down next to someone (being the last to sit down) but then it seemed MORE weird that I was the only one sitting close to a coworker.

But I think I work with a bit of guys a bit closed minded about that kind of thing.

Good point.

It's funny though.  I said to the lady "Am I inviting your husband out on a date?" and she said "It will be Bromantic!"

That's hilarious! For some reason, it always reminds me of Matthew McConaughey/Lance Armstrong.  Both of whom live in Austin... aka "The City of Bromance"...

Do dudes go to movies together?

I told a lady I work with I was gonna go see Zero Dark Thirty tonight and she said her husband really wants to see that and I should give him a call to see if he wants to go.  Seems weird...

It shouldn't be, but yeah, weird.  A friend and I went to go see Avatar together and it was strange.

Funny thing is, if it was THREE guys, then it's suddenly cool again?  Weird.

I have seen plenty of movies by myself though.

That is odd though, you guys do it as kids and teenagers, just not adults.

Funny!! Will be using it on my husband when he has guy/buddy/beer/bike time...as I'm obviously not man enough for him.

Hi TAN.

Why can't people show up for volunteering shifts?  Or at least contact someone to let others know that they won't be showing up?   I just got back from volunteering at packet pick-up for the Polar Dash and was supposed to be working the 10:30 - 1:30 shift.  There were supposed to be more people showing up at 12:30, and then at 3:30.

NO ONE showed up.  The volunteer co-ordinator eventually called her daughter to come and help!  Packet pick-up is open until 8pm tonight, but I HAD to leave as I started to get a monster headache around 1pm.

Ugh.

Ugh! Because people only feel responsible if they're being paid? If not, 10 other people must be just dying to take fill in the place, right?

I was president of our state mountain biking advocate group for 3 years and Anna's PTA for 2. I can't count how many tables I've staffed, hours I've covered for or waited for someone who is supposed to show up. It's a universal truth for volunteering. It sucks, but I keep doing it or groups I believe in.

luckily the women on my rowing team are generally pretty good about not only volunteering for thing but actually showing up when they do. The benefit of a relatively small group I guess.
