Here's a philosophical question along the same lines as a tree falling in the woods.

If the mockee does not realize he is being mocked, is it really mocking?

TW

Mockery is in the intent of the Mocker.  I would say yes, it's mocking.

If you feel like you've been mocked but the person sincerely never intended to mock, then it wasn't mocking.

Interesting etymology... It comes from the french for Snot because the expression "to mock" was to blow your nose at someone.

Like Monty Python... "I Blow my nose at you you silly English Ka-Niggit!"

mr2tony - 2013-02-08 4:44 PM OK so 15 minutes of work left and I have nothing to do, I don't think. My boss has a story I wrote but I dont think he's editing it tonight. Do I: A) Just get up and leave B) Ask him about it, potentially causing him to say `Yeah I'm going to do it in a bit, sit tight.' C) Just sit here and wait until he says something about it

When does it have to be published?

I'd go by and say "Should we sit down first thing Monday to go over this?"

I just did that with my boss 30 minutes ago.  Worked well.

That's what I did! I'm out! Peace out homeys.

You too man.  Have a good weekend.  Don't go messing-up Monica's back/hip any more!!!

TW

I'm suddenly self-conscious.

It is definitely still mocking, but the entertainment value of the mocking may be decreased depending upon whether or not you wish them to know they are being mocked.

I was speaking rhetorically.  I, of course, would never mock.

How'd you get into TAN???

No dinner talky tonight?

Baked tilapia dredged in egg and coated with mixture of fresh parsley, garlic, lemon zest, almond meal, salt and pepper. Mashed cauliflower with olive oil, salt and pepper. Paired with a Sav Blanc.

I might just make it again tomorrow night.

So, as an English Major, we studied a lot of the old and Middle English Lit stuff and Monty Python's Holy Grail is ridiculously true to the era literature. Terry Jones (from Monty Python) was actually a literature expert so he took many of the stories from OE stories. The Dark Knight (tis but a flesh wound) the Rabbit, those were only slightly modified from stories in OE lit (no holy hand grenade of Antioch). Our professor had studied at Oxford and knew Terry Jones because they'd drink together and speak in Middle English.

Went to a good Italian place with my new BFF, Colonel Steve and another dude Matt. Great times!

I too had Tilapia. But mine was Almondini with steamed Broccoli and Squash and Zucchini. The restaurant was BYOB. There's a wine shop next door. Pretty interesting.

I woke to a clear, cold morning.  It will be one of those days in East Tennessee where we have two seasons in one day.  It was a wintry 27 at 6 am.  It will warm to a springlike 55 by mid afternoon.  The advantage is that you can ride a bike with just a light jacket and bike shorts in the afternoon, then build a fire in the fireplace in the evening.  That is the plan.

I get a twinge still from my lower back when I lean to the right.  I will just have to be careful riding.

GomesBolt - 2013-02-09 3:10 AM Hey Chris, are you in PR for work or pleasure?

Pleasure.  Doing IM San Juan 70.3.  First HIM, first real vacation in 15 years.  Kinda scared almost pewpless on both counts

Dinner: Ended up frying some pierogie & onion in butter with a tomato sauce.  Tasty, but needed a protein.

How's TAN this morning?  I'm trying to get up the energy for a long trainer ride today (3hrs).  The inspiration just isn't hitting me.

NEED COFFEEE!!!!!

You do PR? Me too! For "work" though.

I'm gearing up for a 2+ hour spin on a spin bike. I found it's much better for me to go to the gym and sit on one of their bikes than my trainer. On the spin bike I can crank up the resistance high enough to stand and go HARD - for some reason I can't on my trainer.

Plus I get to people watch everyone running around the track - some days I want to cheer them on, maybe I should today

Other P.R.    I'm going to/racing in Puerto Rico, not in Public Relations

I totally lack the tact and patience to ever do that job

I still haven't gotten on the trainer..... I'm getting way too good at this procrastination thing.

I got my ride in.  Not bad.  I opted for a flat ride in town.  We are packing up now to go to the lake.

Dinner:  Manicotti, asparagus, mixed greens with blood orange slices and red onion salad.  No Sangiovese in the cellar, we will have to open a California pinot noir.  It will be a decent one.

Prairie Home Companion on the radio and a fire in the fireplace.  Might be a little repetitious but why mess with a good thing.
