South American here...no team, pledging 122 km's. What team can I join?

Félix

Félix, did you find a team yet?  There are a lot of Tri-Stars bringing our winning game to the Great Lakes/Mid-West team for this Challenge.  Want to join us?

piggpen35 - 2006-01-31 12:40 PM So what do the loosers teams that do not win have to do this time?

In the original BT Challenge we each pledged a distance AND a dollar amount (small, like $5-$20). The winning team got to choose a charity to which the losing teams had to donate their pledge. I think the winners donated half of their pledge. I really liked that and would like to put forward that we do the same with this challenge.

Should this option be found acceptable, to allow for simplicity in case there are other teams besides the Midwest/Great Lakes that actually make their goal, I'd like to suggest that the Team Captains be the ones to choose the charity.

One criteria was that the charity had to accept on-line donations, there may have been others.

A thought on the Charity. I would speculate that there are numerous BT's doing an Ironman Janus Charity Challenge in 2006. Maybe one or more could be selected or if the winning team had someone participating, pledge the money in that direction.

Rick:

While I grew up in northern Virgina/suburban Maryland, my heart is in the South ... so I joined the Florida team.  It's a SEC thing - plus, I never really understood the whole "Fear the Turtle" thing(although my sister, Class of '88, tried to explain it to me each March) and am unsure What the Hell a Hoya Is?

I do know Oxford, MS, The Grove, the taste of warm bourbon + coke at a football game, what fried pickles taste like and have been to Mardi Gras more than once (funny thing, though, I cannot remember a single one of them) ... hence, allegience with some fellow Southerners.

Lastly, look at Don's cool avater?  It's a Calvin thing ...

As such, let the smack talk begin.

While Calvin does totally rock the box well beyond all other poser comic strip characters, he is no match for the Terps baby!

No matter ... all the other teams will quake with the mileage our team racks up. We've got a ton of miles pledged and I'm confident the team will hit their goals.
