Do you think we should set up with ZIP 808 on front and back or 404 on front and 808 on back? Winds in Ausin/Central Texas are totally unpredictable. Somedays it will be blustery all day, somedays are calm in the morning but fierce in the afternoon, and somedays are just calm. Wait around long enough, it will change. Seriously, there is nothing predictable about weather/temps/winds this time of year. I don't really have advice for you on the wheels, but last year I ran a HED C2 60 front/HED C2 90 back and had no issues (I'm only 5'3" and have an XS bike). |

We've had alot of rain, and quite a bit of rain. COLD, too. It's been in the upper 50's all weekend. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be upper 80's. Then, another cold front comes through, and highs in the mid 70's. Let's hope the weather for race weekend is good! |

I'll take 50s and 60s any time over 80s and 90s. Would hate for a downpour like we raced in up in FW-D area a few weeks ago, but cloudy and cool? I'll take it. edit: BTW - Bring your wetsuit and plan to wear it. even though it's a power plant lake, they found a deep, cold spot last year, when it was hot. It's been 2 years and 2 IM races down and I finally want to get my MDOT tattoo. Can anyone recommend a place in Austin? I'd never worn one in a race but had seen people wearing them in some of the sprints I did this summer. Since I've never done this distance I figured it was worth asking as I do find some angry music helps me keep going on longer runs. When I road the course a few weeks ago I noticed a few somewhat tight turns like the right turn off Lindell onto Blue Bluff where you come out of a downhill into a short steep climb. I know we need to stay to the right, especially considering the narowness of the roads...what's a good strategy for turns like this to maintain as much momentum as possible into the climb? Riding alone I'd normally swing out wide heading into the turn, kind of like a skiier would approach slalom gates, hitting the corner at the bottom of my turn, but with the need to stay right I can't use that approach. I've tried a few different approaches and every time end up hitting the climb with pretty much no momentum. Any ideas would be appreciated |

Most people will (should) avoid passing during tight turns. I generally swing out a bit and turn sharply, going slightly inward assuming no ones around otherwise hold your line.
