<<Ok, I am throwing down the gloves! As long as the pool heater is fixed I am going to finish up my swim tomorrow morning. That means a 3200 swim for me tomorrow. This will be a stretch for me but it will be good chance for me to see if I can swim 2 miles. 3200 yards is 2 miles, right?>>

Hi Kitma, that is just shy of 2 miles. Roughly 36 laps (1800 yds) for a mile (standard of course) Hit an extra 8 laps and you're all set. Good luck with the heater!

GO POOLTRIOTS!

Thanks for the info!  When I was on a swim team when I was younger there used to be a 1650 distance race.  I assumed that was a mile so I was going to swim 3300 for two miles.  UTTriman said 3520 is two miles.  Now you are saying I have to go 3600?  The numbers keep going up! What are you guys trying to do to me?!  ; )  Guess I will just go for 3600 to be on the safe side!

All bets are off if that darn pool heater is still broken!

I think the 1600 is closer to the mile if your pool is in meters instead of yards.

I got this from a conversion chart on the web:

1 mile = 1760 yard
1 mile = 1609.344 meter

I did the mile calc the geeky way and said that if 5280 feet is a mile (Statute here and not a Nautical mile which is 6000 feet and no one wants to do that), then breaking it down by 3 (three feet in a yard) equal 1760 yards in a mile. To make it easy on myself, I just said, "Hey fat guy (I have that kind of relationship with myself), just round up to 1800 and quit being such a wuss". So based on that I said that 1800 yards = a mile (and a bit) and that / 50 (yards is a lap) equals 36 laps. So when I do extra stuff, I add in based on the 36 piece so I can do 18 for a half mile, or even 9 for a quarter. Not the most scientific, but it makes me swim more so it cant be that bad.

Anybody else have a better way?

And I really like that conversion from Workoutbunny. That's cool.

if you want to a be a hack just use the analytical functions in ms excel...

=CONVERT(2,"mi","yd"  = 3520
or 3218.688 meters..

I had to shorten my usual Weds. workout because I have a meeting two hours away this morning that I needed to get into the office to pick up stuff.

But I still did 1,200 yards which puts my monthly total at 11,500 ........ only 500 short of my goal. I think I should be able to cover that on Friday.

YEA KIMTA!!!!    A True TRISTAR!!  Congrats on making your goal!!!

Daremo -- Way to work it -- yea -- don't think you'll have too much trouble getting it done on Friday!  That's my plan as well  (although I've got a few more yards than you to finish!)

Keep it up!  After a review of the numbers, there was a recalculation, but the

TRISTARS still hold the lead!

Keep on swimming team !!  You're awesome!

Only 1300 yards to go on this end!  Will easily pop that off tomorrow!

Keep up the good work TRISTARS!  This challenge is going to come down to the wire.  If you're behind the 8 ball teammates-- PLEASE find a pool!  We need you -- Don't want no loser AVATARS on this team!

Great job, Brett!  What a ton of swimming.

I'm afraid I won't be able to get in the pool until this weekend but I will finish just like all the Tri Stars are going to do.

Besides, we don't want to make it look like it was TOO easy.

Well, I only had 500 yards to go today.

So in celebration of that (and the fact it is the last swim in one of my 4-week training cycles) I went out and continuously swam my race distance ....... 2,200 yards!!

I'd say I'm just a little over my goal now.

Tri-stars own baby!!!
