I did get up and try to go for a run this morning only to be greeted by a coughing fit in the 1st 5 minutes, so the wife and dog continued on, and I came home and poured a cup of java to drown my sorrows.... Ironman 3 1/2 months away and I can't even run right now! In over my head this year folks, but that I am not competing in Ironman to win, I just want to have fun, and duplicate the joys, and experiences I had 2 years ago..... SO REALITY CHECK TIME!!! Life ain't that bad! Enjoy it, no matter what curveball it throws at you. Besides you don't know what kind of pitch you may see the next day!! SO LIVE IT UP! |

I wonder if the coffe is helping the cough at all. I know that if I drink coffe I get chest congestion and it is very hard to run even when I am not sick with the flu or some other such ailment. I sure do miss coffee though. |

Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Hm... so many races, so little time! I figure though, if I just race twice a weekend, that fulfills my "long run/bike" workout for the week right?! The 28th is the Potomac River Running 4-miler that I registered for, but that could be a good warmup for the next day's tri. None of these are really "A" races until IM CA, so I think I could pull that off. You should head up a few days early and stay in the Northern VA area, that way we can all hang out, hit the 4-miler and then go to the race on Sunday. Igo isn't allowed though, because I am jealous of his studdly photo. |

Oh, and anyone else that wants to do CA with me, please sign up. I have a friend with a house right near transition, so I will have a sweet spot to get really nervous before the start of the race, and would love to have others of you lining up with me! |

I am a 34C so the tri tops with the bras in them are not sufficent for me. I was previously using a bra that I loved by Champion but in my last TRI 2 weekends ago I went with something new and I am in love. Its by the company 2xU. I think that a female definately made this bra. It is light and comfortable while giving you great support. It doesnt give you that uniboob look and it compresses you in a flattering way. The olympic is a 10k run (6mi) and I never knew I was wearing a bra. Highly recommended. I can get you the specific name if you are interested. Edited by Trigrl 2008-05-08 10:15 AM |

Pro 4100 Wherever the trail takes me, WA. | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Actually Igo, and I are both doing Ironman Canada this year...... And I have no studly pictures like him so I AM NOT WORTHY! One thing you noted was all the "A" races. The way I interpret "A" race is that it is your NUMBER 1 race of the year. Every training swim/bike/run, and every race you do should be GEARED TOWARD your "A" RACE..... I hope this makes sense.... |

Veteran 267 Sterling, VA | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL Absolutely on the "A" race idea. I tend to break my seasons up into halves, with an early season A race (trained over the break from the last A race) and a later season A race. This year however, I am just trying to build up the required base to finish well at CA. It doesn't have to be fast, it just has to be comfortable (and I don't mean that like "comfortable comfortable," just "dude, I am 10 miles into this bike, wtf was I thinking..." |

Veteran 110 Calgary | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL so I have a quick question. how often do you miss a work out. I am scheduled to 9 sessions a week, and have I usually miss at least 1 to 2. I try to make up the times during other sessions but i still feel guilt ridden. If only i didn't have to work...... how do you handle missed workouts?
Thanks |

I have only watched one triathlon (IMC 2007) in my life. So you gals/guys are my role models! Sure it is me in the pic, but it is more about the bike. Me and my bike go a long way. It is a nice Italian 28 years old bike and was new when my parents gave it when I was 17. |

Thanks Well yesterday and today were my first missed workouts since I started my training plan 2 months or so ago... Temp of 103 and still freezing under the covers. Starting to get better, first time out of bed in 24 hours.... My plan is just to miss those 2 days and keep on going in my plan, no sense in trying to kill myself trying to make up those workouts. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: swbkrun's group - FULL I am over my illness now. I have a few sore muscles from doing the half just after getting over being sick and having done minimal workouts for 1 month. I did 22 ish miles bike lastnight and 3 miles jog today with a nice slow 1 miles walk to work on those kinks. Right calf a bit tighter than I would like, but I will use the marathon stick on it tonight and see how thigns go tomrrow. Tomorrow is a fielders choice day, I can go light again or take it as a day of rest and do something on satuerday. I hope to be gtg for next week and get back up to my base workout (taper workout ) base. I have heard that you generally don't "make up workouts" but ya dont miss a long one unless you are sick, then maybe sub it for a lite workout 5 days later or some such. If your cold is below your neck,.. more important to skip you dont want to complicate lung issues with running. I am a relative newb, I went from couch last sept to 1 sprint tri, 1 10 mile run and 1 half mary last sunday. But I read up on stuff. Anyway dinner is readdy off for now. |

This was my husband’s first race and he had just learned to swim about a month ago. We were anxious to do well but more importantly excited to have found a sport we can do together again. I think this picture summarized the fun and camaraderie that all triathlons should be about. For all of you racing this weekend, remember....HAVE FUN! We spend alot of time talking about our training programs, what is working, what isn't etc. |

I need to find some groups around the area to train with. I now that when I was practicing and teaching karate it was so much easier when there was a group where you could support each other. Determintation will take me where I want to go which is eventually an Ironman. I do enjoy the friendships which seem to be developing here. |
