It's now a du, unless they cancel the race altogether. Stupid tropical storm.... Sorry that your tri was changed to a du, but at least you get to log more running miles. Can you get Blossom & Bubbles to join you in making the tropical storm go away?Don't I wish! It's true...I do get more running miles this way. That's good for my training and the challenge. |

Expert 1288 Hatboro, PA | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I just willed myself to finish 11.25 miles. I wanted to do 13.5 miles this morning, but the rain from Hannah had not started yet and the humidity was insane. I was barely able to keep myself moving at the end of the 11.25 miles. My pace was so slow, another woman asked me how long I had been walking, but I wasn't walking!! My first week ended with 20.25 miles, which are all recorded in the spreadsheet and my training log. Good luck to anyone who is still racing this weekend! |

New user 61 | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) Ugh, had to quit my run early yesterday due to knee pain. I was worried I'd really screwed it up, but hours and hours of ice and it feels perfectly fine today. Not even any tightness. I'm not going to risk making up the extra mile today, though. I may add it on to tomorrow's run and split it into 2 parts, so I can make sure to rest/ice/stretch/whatever in between. Man, getting older sucks. 13 years ago I was putting in 100 miles per week on running shoes that might have thousands of miles on them. Today? I can barely run at all without some sort of injury. I'm really tempted to completely start over with a walk/run plan after the challenge. It'll kill me though... my heart, lungs, and legs are perfectly capable of sub-8 miles, and my body wants to go even faster than that, but my knees and ankles just won't cooperate yet. Tomorrow, 12 minute pace, to see if I can avoid another injury. |

As a team we are at 21.10% of our goals!! Great job! Here's how everyone stacks up: Overachievers (greater than 20%) ggwellness - 33.53% Right on track (15% - 20%) Bp74 - 19.97% Need some long workouts (less than 15%) AccidentalChef - 10.18% |

Science Nerd 28760 Redwood City, California | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) So for the team captain, I look like a pretty big slacker. Doesn't help that my long run got pushed to tomorrow because of a race and I've been on vacation. I promise to run WAY more next week. |

Extreme Veteran 307 | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) Not so much of an Overachiever since it's a % thing - look at my total mileage...it's pretty low. But, it'll be my biggest month to date. So, for me it's a big deal. You guys with the big mile goals REALLY have to work hard!!! I'm in AWE! |

Regular 83 Livonia, MI | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) It looks like our spreadsheet is off by a day. I think the totals end on Saturdays? If so it is taking today's totals and adding them to last week. The formula is one cell off for each week, I think. |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I feel similair. Mine is not even much of a challenge since it is less than I did last month. For those who picked a monthly high as their goal, that is way different, no longer how high it is. ggwellness - 2008-09-06 7:49 PM Not so much of an Overachiever since it's a % thing - look at my total mileage...it's pretty low. New user 61 | Subject: RE: Chanticleers Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I think the knee is going to be able to handle 3 mile runs at 12:00 pace. The bad part is that 12:00 pace makes me hate running, since I have to do it on the treadmill and I keep trying to run off the front of the thing. There were a few brief moments today that I thought I'd have to end the run early, but adjusting my form got rid of 90% of the pain. I think I should be able to hit 50 miles this month, but it's going to be harder than I had thought. Just a thought... is it probably better for my knee to do shorter runs more frequently, or longer runs with more recovery time? In this case, longer is going to be 3-4 miles, and shorter, 1.5 to 2 miles. |

If you can handle 3 miles, then run 3 miles. My main advice though would be to see a doctor. |

My ear might be infected and the extra run gets me closer to what the marathon training plan had me at today, so it was a good plan. Getting out of bed this morning, on the other hand, not so fun... |

I ran cross country in high school, and was reasonably fast. I haven't been able to convince myself that I'm not that fast anymore, which is probably what leads to my injuries. Oh, and about the doctor thing.... why do you have to go and give me an answer that actually makes sense? |

Yeah, that would be the smart thing. I do like active recovery, though, and my training plan has a swim and a bike scheduled. I think I need a trip to the clinic before I do the swim. |

Oh, and about the doctor thing.... why do you have to go and give me an answer that actually makes sense? I can totally understand your inability to convince yourself that you are fast. When I was in the Army, my 2-mile time was around 15:00. Now, only five years later, I can probably manage 35:00 for 2 miles. I keep thinking that I can get my pace back to 7:30/mile, even though I know it is unrealistic. |
