Here is a question for you: does the ACTUAL temp have to be below 35 degrees or if the windchill makes it in that range does it still count?? Right now its 37 degrees here but with windchill its only 28 degrees. Crappy points or not? What do you think?

Slugger - 2008-11-11 12:02 AM How stupid is this: I used the fact that it was 40 degrees to cop out on my run. "Well, I won't get any points for it..." LOL! Really, I would have used any excuse I could find. Oh well, gettin' my mojo back tomorrow!

That is too funny!

I actually waited for the temp to drop so I would get some points - that is sad!

Yeah, I am feeling kinda jilted too, it is 37 now, was 34 earlier. Shoulda went earlier.

Too funny....

I was contemplating that as well last night.  I am thinking that the bike shows you get a point for under 40 so the bike temperature needs to range to 39 for a .5 point.  The run does not get effected as badly as the run since I don't run as fast as I bike (good thing I guess!)

So I am thinking that the bike will get you 1 point for under 40, you will have the wind factor, the moisture factor and the time factor.

Does that make sense or did I mess it up that much more?

So any ride counts as long as its under 40 degrees?? And you get 1 point for that , right? Not .5?? I did a ride at 37 degrees in a 31mph wind (yes, it was horrid) for 77 minutes , thus I calculated it as 1+5=5...5x77=385......Correct? Oh, and like a goof I also ran in the freezing cold this am, so that accounts for the rest of the Crap points today. No wonder my knees are aching!!

Going back to aquagirl's original question, does windchill count? 'Cuz we account for wind, but we could easily have windchill temps 10-15 degrees below the "real" temp. I can see arguments for both ways.

It only got down to 36 today - so close, so close! Oh well, got a great run on anyway, so I'm happy. EVENTUALLY I will start earning points!

How about rain? Went out this morning and it was raining, by the time I got back after 30 minutes I was soaked. So it was more than a drizzle, but not sure what a heavy rain would be. Would that be a steady rain or a down pore?

Just know it was not a drizzle.

I thought the original rules made sense. You get points for windchill (ie wind) but only if the temp drops below 35. Would not make sense to me to account for windchill when it is already accounted for.

But I am easy.

I am way late to the party, but if it helps, I've attached the excel spreadsheet I and a few others used to calcualte their own personal points on a weekly basis.  It describes some of the rules we used as well.  Hope this helps!

Okay, makes sense, just wanted to clarify. I used to live in western New York - the real temp could be 50 and the windchill somewhere around 15! Okay, maybe not, but it felt like it!

got a run in the cold and the wind today. Blasted that wind. Looking good for Sunday for some crappy points as I got to get the run done early before it warms up.

Good weekend everyone!

All right, just checking to see if I calculated my bike ride correctly.

0.5 points for 36 degrees and another 1 point for being a bike ride, right?

Happy crappiness everybody!

I finally got some crappy weather points! I had to go run at 5am to get em, but hey it works! So, just to be sure I'm doing this right:

40minutes x .5 (32degrees) = 20

So my suckitude score for the run is 20

Is this right?

Looks good - just don't forget the wind if you had any!

Thanks! The wind was 4mph, just under crappy points, which made it really crappy

I STILL have not gotten any points! ARGH!!!! Had an utterly crappy weekend - wherein it was POURING, but 50+ degrees. And then, I got home from work yesterday and was thrilled to see it was 34 degrees - finally, I thought! But no, by the time I got stuff done I needed to do, it was 37 already, and headed up fast. *sigh*

I'm *determined* to stick this out and finally get some crapola going! LOL!

Hi everyone

Aquagirl told me I had to join you all since I do live in a great country where we do have some nice weather, my run this morning was in a really nice 14F.

How can I join this wonderful group? Does all my workout since the begining of the crappy weather will count or just those to come?

Just tell me where to sign.

Thanks and have a crappy nice day.
