Artemis - 2008-10-30 11:40 PM Hiya new Nibbs thread! I completely missed this. I started knitting a new project. Something for me this time! Finished up Christmas hats and one washcloth for my grandma. I have two more washcloths, but I'll probably take those on the plane in November. Hopefully my wrap will be done by my trip in November.

You're doing freaking christmas knitting already?!! I don't consider it christmas knitting unless I'm casting off on the car ride over to my mom's!

Yeah...I've been Christmas knitting for awhile.  I'm trying to be done with everything early.

Hi Beth!

I went to try on boots last night, and I couldn't get any zipped over my calf.

Now I'm thinking about cowboy boots - nothing really over the top, just pretty basic. Haven't decided yet.

That is what marathon running will do for you.

No kidding. The running and cycling are not helping at all. It's ok. I'd rather have muscle and be awesome than wear tall boots.

I have a pair of really, really cool Harley Davidson boots... very simple, brown weathered leather, that are great and definitely similar to cowboy boots in terms of the stuff you'd wear them with.

I had a heck of a time finding high heeled knee high brown and black leather boots that fit but I was very diligent .

Did you try the boots you were talking about the other day?

Yep.  I got them about halfway up before there was no way the zipper would go up any farther.

Short boots are probably ok.  I don't usually wear them with skirts anyway.  And I do have a tall pair of slouchy black boots that I could wear if I wanted to.  They just need to be broken in more.

I struggle with knee-high boots too so I take them to the shoe man and have them stretched if needed. They measure your calf and then it takes about 3-5 days. They end up fitting like they were made for you.

Since I'm at home I figured proper stemware was in order. Maybe I should order this: http://www.vat19.com/dvds/bottle-of-wine-glass.cfm

So which is classier: drinking out of a GIANT wine glass or drinking straight from the bottle. If it's straight from the bottle, then I'm all class.

I think it's a toss-up on classiness.  I've done both, though, so I can't criticize.

Oooh...maybe they can do that with the boots I have to make them fit better.  That's a great idea!

Quit it.  You're making the rest of us look bad.

I haven't even thought about Christmas gifts yet.  I'm buried in baby knitting right now.  The breeders need to slow it down.  I can hardly keep up.  Three baby blankets to finish by Feb.  It's like a knitting sweatshop at my house right now.

No worries.  I'll be buried in baby knitting after Christmas.  A friend is having twins.
