Elite 4148 Utah | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan It is with great dismay and huge sadness that I must withdraw from the February Challenge. I screwed up my knee today skiing. Going to the Ortho in the morning. I have NEVER had to go to an ortho before. I'm hoping that I just strained it so that I can brace/tape it and go back up the mtn on Monday (Hubby and I had planned a ski date ) |

Elite 4372 Connecticut | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan My plan seems to have hit the crapper. Between sick kids and a sick husband, my life is in an upheaval. Good thing I roll with the punches but, my running miles are suffering! Hopefully I will be able to get some good miles in this afternoon before anything else goes wrong! |

Veteran 104 greensboro, NC area | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan I think that I am finally on the downswing of my cold. Still have it, but I am not in that "achy feel like crap" stage now. At least that's what I am saying at 10am. Things have a history of catching up with me in the afternoon. As it stands, I am gearing back up for an afternoon workout. I have some mileage to make up. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Can't let you all down. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Ya life occuring here too. My son fell off the monkeybars and broke both bones in his right forarm yesterday. They set the bones and kept him overnight in the hospital (100miles away). It was touch and go whether they would have to put pins in his arms and didn't, but I hope that that decision does not come back to bite him if they slide out of place and have to rebreak them.... As for me, the stomach bug is gone, the lung bug is less, but even after a day off my workout this am was not stellar. Got the 20 mile bike ride in, but no land speed records. Snowing lightly every night to keep the roads slick for running. Just kind of draggin here. |

Master 1734 On a lake in the Adirondacks in NY | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Okay, it looks like we are going to have to take some drastic measures to succeed at this challenge. First, you need to buy one of those hospital face masks and wear it all the time so no germs get in. Then wrap yourself, significant other, and children in bubble wrap. Seriously, I hope everyone heals quickly and gets well. |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan what is it this year with knees? I screwed mine up in the Fall - had to take 2 months off of running - finally getting back into it. Someone I work with blew out her ACL playing basketball. A runner in my club blew out an MCL skiing. Bunch of others with knee problems too. Good luck with it!!! And good luck to all the illness-affected ones here. Both of my daughters are recovering from some virus that really took them down hard. |

Elite 4148 Utah | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Quick update... All ligaments in my knee appear to be fine... it's just a strain... so I'm wearing a brace hoping that it will heal quickly. On the other hand (literally)... being I was already there, I had them check out my hand/wrist that I injured last month... yah, it appears as though it was broken but is healing fine (luckily in proper orientation) if it still bothers me in a month then they will order an MRI to check for lig tears. |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Little one is home from the hospital and all apears well. Got in 20 mile bike, 13 mile run yesterday/lastnight, 20 mile bike this am with noon run and swim planned for later today. Numbers looking ok for the month. Man it is amazing how quickly one forgets how much mental energy goes into those longer runs. This was my first 13 miler since the marathon almost a month ago. I did an 11 mile run last week, so getting back up there again. But man, especially on the treadmill, that 13 miles just kind of seems long. Weather forcast is for snow today, Sunday and Monday 8(. Hopefully I can still get my long bike in on Saturday when there is supposed to be a break in the weather. 60 miles on the trainer could very well drive me insane... er. |

Uxbridge | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan 60 miles on the drainer is crazy...13 miles on the dreadmill is intolerable. I would rather run in sub zero temps than run on the dreadmill!!!! Baowolf, glad to hear your little one is OK. My oldest broke both her radius and ulna doing a cartwheel when she was younger. She was in a cast for a while but it healed fine. Kids are so resiliant |

Master 1989 New Jersey | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan I was about to agree that 60 mi on the trainer is incredibly nuts. But I think back to a couple winters ago where i did a few 3 hr rides on there. I'd take a couple minutes break between each hour and just walk around the house. And you get to watch alot of movies. Nonetheless, it's still nuts!!! |

We are sick here so no plans. Cole had a 103 degree fever last night and I am now coming down with some crud. Not good! We are one week from race day, I better be fine by then! Hope you all enjoy the weekend! Longer run for me tomorrow! |

Extreme Veteran 557 | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Happy valentines day everyone!!!! and x4 13 on the treadmill oh lord I would die I think....but I'm also spoiled and think its "cold" when it drops below 50. What are everyones Valentines day plans, my fiance and I went out to celebrate me hitting my goal weight 159 and V-day....I treated myself to a boatload of food, but its actually quite sad I couldn't eat half as much as I use to...buffalo wings as a starter, Loaded hamburger with fries and a side of mash potatoes....ended up brining half the burger home....oh yea and 2 root bees |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan I have done 20 miles continuous on the treadmill prior to my mary in January. It is not just the cold, it is the cold, dark and slippery snowy icy conditions in the dark that make the treadmill a necessity and I won't ride my bike with the skinny tires on icy roads. .. |

Uxbridge | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan I was able to get in 1:30 on the bike in the gym. It was a really different kind of bike. It had a big screen and a "pace bike" which sets the power for the ride. You can shift gears to increase or decrease your power. Very similar to a computrainer but I was not on my bike. It was a great workout. Tommorow is my last long run before my 1/2 Mary next weekend.
Happy Valentines Day to all!!!! |

Elite 5316 Alturas, California | Subject: RE: Team EDISON: Stick to the plan Brr I opted to bike outside rather than do the drainer. It was 32 F, 15-20 mph wind and it flurried on my for several hours. I got 65 miles in, but it was a tad bit cold and I was never sure whether the snow would accumulate enough to put me in trouble. Oh, I am on track for everything, although next week is a recovery week.... Got back in time to suprise my wife with a prime rib/champaine dinner out for Valentines Day. Oh well hope everyone else is getting it done... |
