Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge I got a pretty good tempo run in yesterday despite the heat! Today I bike commuted... I was planning on swimming in the lake, then lifting after work today, but I got hit by a cabbie on the way here and am now sporting some lovely fresh road rash on my leg. I think the swim is out until it scabs over, but I think I should be ok to lift (it kind of hurts, but more from the cuts and probably forming bruises, not like anything's broken or anything). **** Hit by a car 900th post toppage!! **** Edited by yogachic 2010-08-11 10:38 AM |

But there's an end in sight, since all my friends who are moving away are leaving this week Now I just have to get through a slew of birthday parties/dinners! Birthday and going away parties for you - weddings for me... It's hard to eat smart at weddings.Today is a break from the parties/dinners/brunches/happy hours, so I can actually do a *real* training run! Of course, leaves out of one of my favorite bars in the city Seems to be going around. Wedding last week, going away party this week (for my son - I'm getting old). |

Hopefully the cabbie stopped. Sounds like you're ok (thank goodness). Did the bike survive OK? Hopefully you got all the insurance, etc in case you find something wrong later on. Congrats on post 900. |

Congrats on post 900. Luckily it was very low speed, so the bike was totally fine. My leg is mostly fine... err, at least it looks better than it did yesterday! Now it just looks like a bunch of little scrapes with some bruising. I'm walking with a little limp, and it just feels like it's "sore", but besides that I feel ok. As for insurance, the cabbie definitely did the thing where he stopped, saw I was laying on the ground, and then drove away as fast as he could. He didn't even come out of his stupid cab to make sure I was ok! Should have figured as much, since the reason for the accident was that he wasn't paying attention to the road because he was busy honking at a possible fare. Urgh! I had a run planned today, but I think I'll skip that in favor of a pool swim. Hopefully my leg is better before Saturday since I have to run 15 miles that day |

Hopefully my leg is better before Saturday since I have to run 15 miles that day That really stinks (I'm censoring myself here). It really makes me mad (to put it nicely) when people drive off like that. Accidents happen but when they run off without even checking to make sure you are OK, it makes me want to sue them for everything they've got. Unfortunately its hard to do that when you don't know who it is. BTW, did you know that scarring on a young woman's legs are worth tens of thousands for even just a slight scar? My cousin settled with the insurance company for about 10k for a scar that was about an inch and a half long. Crazy stuff. For a guy, its not worth a penny. |

Elite 3460 Slackerville, USA | Subject: RE: August "Don't Be A Slacker" Challenge I'm kind of frustrated with myself. I've been missing some workouts lately. I got a call yesterday about a possible job. I've had two companies call me to come apply for a job in the last couple of months. So anyway. I had to sit around waiting for a phone call and never made it out. Possible interview today so I won't get a lunch workout in. Hopefully I'll be able to get out tonight. |

Yeah, the sad part is that it's almost to be expected. Once a friend saw a cab turn the corner and hit a person in a wheel chair that was in the cross walk (they had the walk signal)! That cabbie also didn't stop, and other pedestrians had to help pick up the guy and put him back in his chair because it was knocked over and he was lying in the street Horrible! That's funny about the scars. Hopefully my leg won't look too terrible one this heals! |

No good!!! I'm glad you're ok. Wow, was going to complain about my slacking month but no way now! Sorry about the accident - glad you're ok! Sounds like a challenging month for everyone - between a slightly sprained ankle on a run (these new-fangled things called curbs are going to be tough), a bike in the shop (school starting so students are dropping off bikes to tune-up at MY shop - the small local one who doesn't make me feel stupid for not knowing Contador's chain ring size), and a dead computer, it looks like I've pretty much dropped out. But the computer is now working, the bike is home, the ankle is better, and a membership to the natatorium is in my pocket so things look good.(?) Now i only have to double up for the next two weeks and play catch-up. Piece of cake, right? |

I'm not a slacker........I'm pacing myself! Me too! Yeah, I skipped my swim last night because I was at work until late and had already made post-swim dinner plans. BUT I'm planning another Lake swim tonight after work with some tri club friends. We're planning on grabbing post-swim food, so I don't have to worry too much if I get out late again since they would wait for me to finish my swim. Heck, they'd probably like the extra time to either go longer, or get a quick run in after |

But I'm commuting home today so that will be 25 miles on the bike. Only 20 tomorrow to be on track for the month, at least as far as the bike goes. If I go running during lunch I'll be up on that goal. Swimming and strength training is another story. |
