Shores of Panama you can get in and out of the lot. During early on in the bike you may have to wait a little bit but for my family it wasn't a big deal.

IMFL housing is reasonable, lots of options which is much different than some of the other IMs in NA.

Tried getting to the Shores at 5:45am on race day.  Traffic control directed us all to WalMart.  The street was closed until later in the day (end of bike).  Again, not a big deal considering WalMart is so close.

I'm in again! Did 2011 IM Fl. in11:27:53, 2012 would like to break 11 hrs.  2011 FL IM was my first "IM", did IM distance race 26 years ago before the kids came and now I'm hooked again! Had the whole family down to watch good time had by all. The Boardwalk is a dump. I stayed at the Laketown Wharf, the rooms were great, close to the start/finish,best thing was the family was able to come and go in their cars during the race due to the back entrance/exit. Request 10th floor or higher that gives you an ocean view. Also request IM discounted rate it's like a 15% discount if I remember right. The jelly fish will be here next November we vacation here alot and I can't remember not having to deal with them.I suggest a full wetsuit. I recommend getting a coach if this is your first or like myself coming back into the sport after many years away.I highly recommend Jennifer Gatz ,Masters in ex phys, going for her PHD in ex phys now,She had me ready for the demands and nutritional needs of the race. Her web site is jayasports.com. I wish everyone good luck and I pray the weather is as nice as it was this year...

One thing that really helped me prepare last year  was doing the gulf Coast Triathlon 70.3,They use the same swim course you just do 1 lap.Bike course uses ~ first 15 miles and the last 15 of the IM course. The run is the same as the IM except 1 lap not 2. I believe it is being held May,12,2012...

344 days really doesn't seem that far away.  Not sure if I should be exciting or scared.  Maybe it's 90% excited and 10% scared or is it 90% scared and 10% excited. I guess I better go with 90% excited.  I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi all! I finally pulled the trigger and registered for 2012 a few days ago. I did have to do the corporate thing, but at least I'm in. Right now, I have a 1 bedroom condo booked at the Boardwalk but I read in a post above that it wasn't very nice and I really need a two bedroom anyway.

Any suggestions? I can't wait!

Condos at Boardwalk are nice and privately owned so can vary in decor and upkeep but mostly good unless under foreclosure. The hotel portion of Boardwalk is old and dated.

So I just got back from the doctor who looked at my back. Basically, I have some bad discs from cycling and need to take a break, with some PT thrown in the mix. Luckily for me this race isn't for another year, but its still a bummer not being able to do what I want.

Guess now is the time to fix what is broken, and focus on other areas (swimming/running daily).

Just bumping us up.  I'm a moment of temprary insanity I signed up for IMTX as well.  I can drive to it and I need more than one race a year.  There are not many races here which I find VERY surprising.  I have no deesire to bruna whole weekend for a sprint and thats about all that they have and typically they are a 4-6 hour drive each way.  no thanks.

I am jealous of you guys doing FL in 2012, it's an awesome race!! If I could find a secret way in at this point, I would do it in a heartbeat!

For those of you looking for lodging I would suggest Boardwalk condos on vrbo, that's the easier place and much nicer than the actual hotel part. We actually had some friends who had to change because some of the rooms at least, are just not kept up well.

Also, I would suggest doing Gulf Coast in May (as if you didn't already know that!) Don't worry, the heat will slow you down, but you will go Much faster in the cool weather.

Good luck!

My schedule starts with a road race series over the winter.  Every distance from 5K to 10 miles every other weekend throught the end of February. Then a half marathon the end of April.  The tri schedule is as follows:

June - Keuka Sprint
July - Musselman Sprint
July - Musselman Half (Doing both is the double Mussel)
August - Cayuga Oly
August- Sodus Sprint
September - Finger Lakes Sprint
September - Maybe another HIM or Aquathon
November - IMFL

I'll put some 5K and 10K races in as well, easier to get higher intensity running in this way.

How is the recovery going Kathy?
