Subject: RE: January Swim Challenge -- TRI-STARSI did the mile calc the geeky way and said that if 5280 feet is a mile (Statute here and not a Nautical mile which is 6000 feet and no one wants to do that), then breaking it down by 3 (three feet in a yard) equal 1760 yards in a mile. To make it easy on myself, I just said, "Hey fat guy (I have that kind of relationship with myself), just round up to 1800 and quit being such a wuss". So based on that I said that 1800 yards = a mile (and a bit) and that / 50 (yards is a lap) equals 36 laps. So when I do extra stuff, I add in based on the 36 piece so I can do 18 for a half mile, or even 9 for a quarter. Not the most scientific, but it makes me swim more so it cant be that bad. Anybody else have a better way? And I really like that conversion from Workoutbunny. That's cool. Edited by mlaugustine 2006-01-24 7:42 PM
