Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() courtney_leone - 2006-02-22 2:10 PM Hey! I hit a 1000! I just noticed! Something else....I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but whenever someone's been in the pool wearing really strong perfume or cologne, and when you swim you can taste it? Maybe I'm just swallowing too much water Also, I see the nastiest things on the bottom of the pool. Clumps of hair stuck on hair bands, tons of bandaids....who knows what else. Truly gross. I noticed that last summer when I first started swimming, some guy with heavy cologne in the lane next to me and I could taste it. Since then it seems the water always has some kind of flavor, and I have to force myself not to think about what it is.(gag) |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() my Husband, from South America, gets SERIOUSLY grossed out when he uses, it seems, ANY American locker room. He is very sensitive to "excessive" nudity and carries on about the unexpected hair you guys have. (he is SMOOOOOTH). Can you all just tone it down so I don't have to hear about it? But it is kinda funny......

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree about the cologne/perfume taste in the water. I thought I was the only one who noticed that.... Speaking of smells, yesterday at the pool someone was cooking popcorn (I don't know where) in the swim center and the delicious smell permeated the pool area and made me cut my swim short so I could go home and eat dinner. Talk about a distraction!! |

I can understand when they're really really young, but when they're 5, 6,7...theyre old enough to dress themselves in a gender appropriate locker room!!! |

HATE IT! I can understand when they're really really young, but when they're 5, 6,7...theyre old enough to dress themselves in a gender appropriate locker room!!! I understand why this would upset you, but for the record there is NO way I let my 5, 6 or 7 year old go in to a locker room alone to get changed. Think about all the freaks that have been described here - no way I leave a kid that young alone with those people. When I take my kids to the gym I always take my 5 year old daughter (and my 3 and 7 year old sons) in to the family locker room with me. (My 10 year daughter goes on her own) My locker room pet peeve is pretty tame and common - the naked guys - I understand it is a locker room, and some nudity is required, but there is no need to spend every minute you are in the locker room nude! The weirdest experience I ever had with this happened a few months ago when one nude guy was trying to tell another nude guy about how Jesus could "save" him. The conversation started before I went to the pool, and was still going on when I got back. Edited by MUL98 2006-02-23 9:05 AM |

I can understand when they're really really young, but when they're 5, 6,7...theyre old enough to dress themselves in a gender appropriate locker room!!! My gym actually has a "family" locker room - no opposite sex kids under 3 in the "regular" locker rooms, so older than that, they can at least all go to the family one. if I had little ones, it wouldn't be til they were much older that I'd feel comfortable sending them on their own - too many freaks in the world out there. |

HATE IT! I can understand when they're really really young, but when they're 5, 6,7...theyre old enough to dress themselves in a gender appropriate locker room!!! I have to agree with everyone else on this. A 5, 6 or 7 year old may be old enough to dress themselves, but they are not nearly old enough to defend or be responsible for themselves in that environment. Your discomfort at having those kids in the locker room with their parents is nothing compared to the discomfort a child that age would feel being sent alone into an adult locker room. It would be irresponsible and somewhat cruel to send a child that age into an adult locker room by themselves. |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() A couple of weeks ago I stepped out of the shower and this old dude is wandering around the locker room offering people candy from a plastic shopping bag. Naturally, he was nekkid. At least he wasn't walking around saying "Hey Little Boy. I've got something sweet for you." Of course, this also leads to the *reason* that the parents don't let the 5-7 year olds go into the locker room alone. |

Extreme Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I don`t understand why many people are so scared of naked humans. I go to the onsen in Japan about once a week, and although it was uncomfortable at first, I am now completely fine having a normal conversation in a room/sauna with other men who may or may not be using the hand towel provided to cover themselves. I agree that it is a little strange to see grown men stretching completely naked in front of one another, but if I don`t want to look I don`t have to! I always felt awkward in the showers during high school, and would never shower without my speedo on or after wrestling practice, but after living in a different culture with different values it seems childish to complain about people who are doing something which feels natural to them. |

I had a friend that did this for over 6 months in college. |

Master![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Playing football made me impervious to seeing strange things in the locker room. It was always a fun game to play when someone was getting interviewed in the locker room and you walk by naked and try to get in the camera shot. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think the weirdest thing that I see in the locker room is the guy that stands halfway out of the shower stall to wash his parts. The best way to describe this guy's technique is playing the pee-tar. I just don't think that strumming your instrument for all to see is appropriate. |

I don't think people are "scared" of naked humans, they may just be uncomfortable. If you were raised with a sense of modesty it may not be the easiest thing to be around people who just let it all hang out, literally. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm sure this has already been covered, but just don't want to see naked women shaving "down there" outside of the shower! Ewwww, their hair everywhere? That's just.....ugh... |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Just when I was about to write, "my YMCA locker room is pretty normal"... I was prven wrong. This morning I came around the corner of my row of lockers to see an 80 year old, very wrinkled man in front of the hand dryers mounted on the wall. He had his back to the dryer, and was using his hands to SPREAD HIS BUTT CHEEKS to dry "in there". I nearly stopped at the local "adult news shop" on the way to work just to cleanse the image from my brain!!!! |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I couldn't care less what others do in the locker room. You want to stand naked on a bench and do the watoozie, knock yourself out! You want to bring your kids into the change area, no problem! Just don't expect me to cover myself when I walk out of the shower. |
