Is that one lap or two?  I thought it was supposed to be two laps.

Thanks for posting that.  It'll give me at least a visualization....but what about Purgaroty Road?  Cant I call it something else, say Heaven's Gate Road, wait NO not that at all...how 'bout Road of Beautiful Smooth Riding.  I like that one better.  Now lets work on the whole "Devel's Backbone" thing.

Hey, did y'all get this email?

Hi Texas Triathletes,
(snip)
Second, I don't know if any of you have noticed on the site, but we are
including training for this race. Trinity Traing will be providing two
sessions; March 11 and March 18 both at 9:00 AM at Canyon Park (We will
meet in the front of the park and all drive in together). This will
serve two purposes. One, if any one has specific training questions we can
help you find a answer. Second, if people want to, we can ride and run
the courses so you know where to go on race day. Please come prepared
with your gear. Email me or Jeremy [email protected] if you have
questions.

I so wish I could fit one of these in, but given the drive time, doesn't look like it. 300 feet of climbing still sounds somewhat formidable to me. "Devil's Left Calf?"

Actually, I did not get any email...guess I'm really not loved.  First Nick doesn't have me on the participant list, and now I'm not getting the cool training emails.

Don't worry Brandt, I'm not going so you're not missing out on anything. Kidding. Not really, you're not missing a thing. Ok, I'll stop....None of us are going.

I'm late to the thread, but I'm there. I wasn't planning on coming down until Saturday morning, but with all of you freaks getting there on Friday, I've got to be there if there's still room!

I'll only be there for Friday, since I have a shooting match on Saturday night I plan on going to. Any of you that have a chance to pass me during the race may want to reconsider!!!

Welcome to the crazy house Dennis.

Note to self:  Don't pass a man who wants to practice his shooting skills (although I wouldn't even be able to pass you, unless I was in a car!!)

Oh Dennis---YAY! I'm so glad you're coming.

Too bad you're not staying Saturday night but how about that 'welcome to Texas' beer we talked about? Or is that only when I come to Austin and find a deck somewhere?

Either way, excellent choice about the race!

We can do the welcome to Texas there. The more the merrier! You're still nuts for not moving to Austin.

Nothing is permanent! I didn't say I didn't want to live in Austin.

So, see, Haley -- it's not a "welcome to Texas" beer. It's only a "Welcome to AUSTIN" beer, strings attached and whatnot, read the fine print, yadda yadda. For "Welcome to Texas," you get a FREEBIRD's.

And BRANDT, you silly, you don't NEED Nick's piff-piff little emails when you have friends like me who will post them all right here! Don't ever say I never did anything for you.

After a lengthy conversation with my coach today re: my ITBS issues, etc., we've decided that this race doesn't make sense.  I won't be running at all next week, and will try to start running again the middle of the following week.  To risk aggravation of the injury by trying to race on the 25th just isn't smart.

So now, I am faced with a tough call.  It's about a 6 hour trip for me to go to Canyon Lake, plus the travel costs, and the best I can do is either make it an aquabike followed by some finish line jockstrapping, or just stay here and get some long bike training in.

Any thoughts guys?

Are you going to do any races before CDA?

Why not rest until the race then see how you feel that day? Whats wrong with walking or doing just the swim and bike? This can still be valuable race training--swim, T1, bike, T2.

Yes, I still have Battle of San Jacinto and CapTex, both olys, before CDA.  Right now, if I do come up for Texas Tri, the plan would be to do it as an aquabike...just leaving the run portion out.

Sorry to hear you won't be doing the complete race Brandt. You should still make it up there, though. It looks like it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun with all the BT'ers who will be there. Aquabike/Jockstrapping with friends beats riding alone in the Valley anyday my man!

Is there the possibility if a relay? I'd be happy to run for it.....

Actually, it appears they do have a relay division.  Might be a great compromise, if you don't mind being in the BOP since I'm not fast at swimming or biking yet.

Maybe you could convince Courtney or Dennis to swim, Brandt ride (since this will be better for your training), and Bill run...
