Okay, this is where I might need some reigning in.  I have an extra long weekend and don't go back to work until Thursday.  My tri is on Sunday.  I have made it a point to cram a ton of training into today and the next 2 days.  I did a bike this morning, my ironman neighbor just invited me to a swim, and this evening I am doing an evil barre plus (think harder than any marathon, push till you puke type class) class.  Tomorrow I a set up for bikram yoga in the morning and then a swim/bike/run with a friend who is doing her 1st tri.  Wednesday, I have barre plus again (PURE EVIL!!!) and then whatever else opportunity comes along.

So does cramming for a sprint tri work?  I think I need to add some more running in but will it even matter.  I have been blowing off running and only run minimal since Big Sur, 2 months ago (think 10 miles over the past 2 months, I take this recovery stuff seriously.  )

I am comfortable, not fast, but comfortable with the swim and bike distance.  The run is the thing I am least comfortable at right now but my social opportunities are minimal for the run.  Does it even matter?  I am just looking to survive but I would like to do it without walking.

No.  But I think you can do it, with the goals you posted.

x2

Do whatever training you feel like between now and then, but at best it's a warm-up. Nothing you can do now is going to produce the relevant physiological adaptations between now and then to improve your tri performance.

However, you have plenty of experience/base to get you through. Just go in, have fun and finish! And if you don't want to walk ... just run slower.

Jo - glad you're feeling better! Looking forward to encouraging you as you train for your HIM!

Kirsten - If the elevation is a non-issue for you then I think the lower elevation ride looks "harder" because it has steeper climbs.  The one at elevation has a less steep climb and appears to have more downhill time.  Just my 2 cents.

Hoping the elevation won't be an issue, but glad that y'all think the first is more difficult.  That is the profile from my ride yesterday; the other is my HIM.  When I first looked at the elevation a few months back, I was worried, but I am pretty comfortable on hills, so reckon I should be ok!

If you are use to the lower elevation I would definitely try to get some high elevation training done.  While the hills are less steep comparitavely you are starting 1000 meters higher which is significant.

I agree. The second ride looks harder as the climbs cover similar height changes overall, but has the added difficulty of higher altitude throughout.

x2! (what a pair, right??)

and one more thing to add. As Yanti said, if you don't want to walk just run slower. and if you NEED to walk, just do it. Often people set arbitrary goals, "I want to run X fast" etc. that don't take anything else into account such as weather conditions, the course, how you are feeling on THAT particular day. So, as I always say, go out there and do your best on that given day and listen to your body.

...and keep it fun.

Thanks for all your kind words of support over the weekend. I appreciate them all.

Prayers working. Solutions are presenting themselves.

Great pictures everyone.

Been a busy bee myself today. Bike to work 11 km( Long route), Bike back 5.5km 2 hours later, to find out that i am locked out. Throw off my jacket and turn it into a brick with a 3.5 km run. 1000m swim this afternoon. Take the little one and friend to the park this evening, pushing swings with each arm then pulling/ pushing them on the roundabouts.

Knackered.

Yes, those are the only roundabouts I know of as well. Also known as a traffic circle. He wouldn't be pushing his child into a traffic circle now, would he? Maybe he would.

Swings and roundabouts? Surely you've heard of this phrase. Although you call a seesaw a 'teetertotter' so maybe not.

Well Manatees, it's official, I've lost my mind.  Is there a counselor in the group?

It was only a matter of time.

You were doomed.

At least you're with the right posse to get you through your temporary insanity.

Good luck girl.

We have roundabouts here in Bali, gazillions, but nobody ever goes "round about" them. It's assumed you will take the straightest line to your ongoing path when you approach. Once in a while some idiot tourist will try to treat a roundabout like a roundabout and we honk furiously because he's going to kill somebody doing that.
