So far.  You'll know if I start posting weird things - like if I say I hate PopTarts or beer or something.

Gosh, I hate Thursdays.  They are my super busy/long days so I barely login to my work email, never mind anything else.  I only found the new thread cause I was looking at the forums...and there are already 3 pages!  Holy moly.

I too am loving all the SO pics.  Allen, nice to see you.  Good job on the re-quitting.  Yanti, that cake looks absolutely like it would fit in at a pride parade.  And blue icing out the nose, fantastic!  It's no wonder where your joie-de-vivre comes from!

I got on the drainer again tonight, just another shorty 30 minutes.  I was going to do a bit of a run too, but the pineapple express has arrived on Track number 1 and I can't see the caboose.... Didn't want to have soaking wet orthotics for work tomorrow...

Happy Friday to everyone!

Can anyone translate that into something an englishman can understand?

"The Pineapple Express is a non-technical term for a meteorological phenomenon characterized by a strong and persistent flow of atmospheric moisture and associated with heavy precipitation from the waters adjacent to the Hawaiian Islands and extending to any location along the Pacific coast of North America"

Basically, it means that it rains here for 6 months from Sept-Oct to March-April.  Not unlike your weather...It was downpouring here last night and I didn't want to get my shoes/orthotics all wet!

And Caboose??? Plus where do you live, cos i,m not moving there when i escape from here.

bcraht - 2012-10-19 2:52 PM I went swimming this AM, and on the board was 5x50's full out.  It was during this set that I finally understood the feeling of hip rotation drives the stroke.  I'm not sure I can re-create this while swimming at a normal pace right now, but I get it now, so that is a start. Laughing

yyyyyYYYYAAAAAAAYYYYY!! Pretty sweet when stuff clicks in the water, hu? Nice work!!

swimming eureka moments are sweeeeeeeeeet.

Artemis - 2012-10-19 7:19 PM Surgery went well today.  Got a nerve block in right arm.  Insanely weird!!!  Should be able to move arm tomorrow.  No idea on pain because of nerve block.  Hope it's not too bad.

Nice Jen. Glad to hear.  Hope tomorrow is good for you!

Hope you fix quick and all gets back to normal asap.

cdban66 - 2012-10-19 1:12 PM Hey, heads up. Janyne was in a bike/car incident this week. Not bad, it looks like she is fine, but maybe stop in and drop her an inspire. Thanks all, you guys rock!

Thanks Chris and all those who posted.

I was side swiped by a pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon/evening.  I went down hard.  The bike is in the shop.  Fortunately, I am not.  I am very very very thankful that the bike and rider (me!) did not get tangled up in the trailer he was pulling.

I think that the driver was just not paying attention.  We were both going straight.

Both the driver and a witness stopped.  Police report was filed.  I went to my regular doctor on Thursday morning.  I have road rash and bruises on the right side of my back, my right butt cheek, both elbows, my right hand, and my upper lip.  I am quite attractive now.  No, I do not know how I landed on my butt and got road rash on my upper lip.  I also have cuts on the back of my left calf where it looks like my leg and some interaction with the crank.

The bike is getting new front brakes (bent to the point that replacement is needed) and possibly a new fork and touch up paint.

Just logging on in New Zealand - glad to hear you're not badly hurt, a relief when a bike and truck get mixed up....take care, rest and recover and of course so pleased the bike isn't terminal.

Hi Jo. Hows NZ treating you. Who's a lucky girl, globe trotting just to see the world series. Are the Brownlee brothers in action out there?

Asalzwed - 2012-10-19 6:44 PM Before I go out (night before beer ya know ) I'm going to write out my race plan here. It might not MEAN much to you all but at least maybe I'll feel a little accountable? you can whip me if I screw it up.Start out easy. Focus on good form through the first 5k. Take a gel and settle into a comfortable pace. Take water at all stops as there are only a few of them. Work the "hill" but don't waste energy. Be efficient on the gravel portion and the turnaround. Reevaluate/take a gel and set up for a strong finish. Get outside of self and finish unreasonably fast, accelerating through last 100. That pain IS temporary.

Gooooo Salty at the Salty.  That sounds like a great plan to me.  Especially the night before beer part Wink

X2 on everything. (with extra focus on the beer)

Quick check in. Race done, but I heard from a friend this morning who is in the hospital. I am there now, he had a heart event. He is OK, but it truly is a wake up call for him.

Just looking at the Website for Salty's run--$22 entry fee!  Man, how come I can find those races?  She should be crossing the finish line about now--in first place no doubt

Kate, did you run? (It said maybe on the Manatees Racers Report).  Hope it went well.

Well I added a new ride to my stable. Needs lots of love. Previous owner barely rode it but left it out in the elements. Got a once over by a bike mechanic this morning and he said looks good just needs a good cleaning. He cleaned and adjusted the brake and shift cables for me. Pretty good score for $60 on Craigslist

Haha I appreciate your belief in me! I had a fantastic race! It was so much fun and I nailed my race plan. It was windy as hell, wooooweee! I got first in AG (so you were sorta correct) and 2nd overall women (I got a stuffed fish "trophy") and 7th overall men and women. Had lots of friends out supporting since it was local. J got some really cool pics I'll share later. And yeah, 22 bucks! That's why I HAD to do it even with Portland two weeks ago.

CONGRATULATIONS SMOKIN' FISHY SALTY ON THE SALTY!

So where's my frickin' race called the Arsiyanti, huh?

The bolded part--priceless. Especially at $22. If my first triathlon hadn't cost only $30, I probably wouldn't be here.

Nice deal!! That's impressive.  Mountain biking has scared me since I was 9 and went over the handlebars.  I haven't done it since and really have no interest.

Over the handlebars is what happened to the prior owner. Destroyed her rotator cuff. She had to get out of triathlon too.

I'm not interested in hard-core or serious downhill. Just want to get off road with DH.

I had a friend who raced downhill in college. His bike had motorcycle suspension! I had no idea people went off cliffs on bikes like that! But yeah, that will be a fun hobby just be careful!
