First day back at full gas since I got sick. Had Thursday off, took Friday to rest, did some light workouts and am now back at it. Yeah I think you're right...embrace it, and then kick its ...or at least become adequate |

If I didn't have it I would lose focus and slack off. what is trainer road? does it have videos? or is just a place to download workout info?? I looked at it a few years ago and cant really remember. But I do need training that keeps me focused. I will put in long junk hours left to my own devices. |

New user 324 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Trainer road is awesome. Go to trainer road.com and check it out Or go to you tube and check it out. It is incredibly user friendly and they have great customer service. It allows you to train with power (with or without a power meter) using structured workouts with on screen visual aids. They are not videos - it's an interactive software (I think comparable to a compu trainer, although I never used one of those) but you can pair the workouts with videos like trainer road. I have a power meter, but if you don't I think all you need is an Ant+ speed/cadence sensor and a trainer that is compatible with the program (TR provides a list of compatible trainers for which it has determined the power curve in order to determine "virtual" power output). They have plenty of workouts to choose from, and training plans, or you can creat your own workouts. I just started using the create a workout feature and it is great. Literally in 5 or 10 minutes I am creating workous in the system based on what my coach wants me doing. Huge fan. Fwiw, I'm still a beginner cyclist. Been participating in triathlons since 2007 but only started riding seriously in 2013, rode with power and TR all last year and the gains in my cycling came quickly and were measurable, and it all stayed fresh and interesting. Pairing TR with Sufferfest videos is great too. |

New user 324 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Np One more thing to add - it's very easy to transfer files from TP to another application. After I ride i download the file, then upload to Training peaks. I used to think having to do that for every workout would be tedious but it takes 2 seconds. |

Member 169 Long Island, NY | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Out of every gadget, piece of equipment i have ever bought (besides my coach), TR with Sufferfest videos and my wahoo kickr is the most bang for my buck. I have seen the most improvement in my bike with this program. It is great. I look forward to my time indoors on the trainer. |

Member 16 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Hope everyone's training is going well! Starting week 5 tomorrow with a day of rest!! This week I found it tough getting through my workouts. It's been so cold here (Ottawa) and getting up at 5am to hit the pool when it's -25 celsius outside doesn't make me want to jump in a pool! I guess we got to do what we got to do to be IM's!! Take care J |

Member 1083 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread I can't even imagine that. I'll have a hard time motivating myself to jump the pool today and it will be probably 70 degrees Fahrenheit :-) |

New user 324 | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Anyone else here in the path of Snowmaggedon hitting the North East? I'm right in the bullseye. I told my wife if we lose power I'll hook up the breaker box to my trainer and power the house that way. |

Extreme Veteran 828 North Shore, MA. | Subject: RE: Ironman Lake Placid : Official Thread Hill repeats on the TM today - bleh. At some point the pool will show up on my schedule. Till it does, I'm keeping very (very) quiet about it. The thought of the early morning swims, my hair freezing on the way to the car, being cold etc. does not appeal. |

Hope you stayed safe and warm and that the dig out isn't too much of of a hassle or disruton to your training. It actually worked out well. I finished the Sufferlandria tour. 250 miles of biking on the trainer this week.TSS is through the roof. The roads are good now so back for a long run tomorrow. Aiming for 15-17 z1 low z2 in 2:30 on tired legs. I am calling in sick to work and going to enjoy the Super Bowl after run. |

Been a horrible start to the year...had a lingering cold most of jan and really kicked my butt mondau morning. Took mon-tue-wed off...did 1:40 on bike yesterday and back to the pool and treadmill today. Guess its better to rest and heal than force 3 crappy workouts in, and slow down getting well. |
