Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---OPEN for a few more peeps! Beachcat, I started running last January, weighing in at about 250. 30 seconds running 2 minutes walking, or something bizzare like that. It was all i could do. By May I was down 20 pounds. I would do the run walk thing if you can, as opposed to the stationary cycle thing, too easy to slack on the bike, also too easy to go too hard. Just go for a 20 minute run/walk, do it 3 times a week and add more running time gradualy. Edited by BigDH 2008-01-23 12:16 PM |

New user 1 Portland, Oregon | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---OPEN for a few more peeps! I would like to join your group. My name - ofbtri - stand for "Old Fat Broad Triathlete". I've been doing Tri's since 1993 - mostly sprint distance. I've been up and down the scale - including getting a second place team finish when 8 months pregnant with my youngest in '96 (i swam - had great runner and biker to offset my slowness). I have "raced" at my top weight of 300 lbs in 1997 thru 1999 - i'm a 5' 7" woman. I have been maintaining a 100 to 120 lb weight loss since 2000. I have done one half-ironman and attempted Ironman Canada in 2007 but blew up on the bike due to lack of training. This year I am working toward Ironman Florida to celebrate turning 50 (in july)! I have two major races this season - the New Balance Half Iron in Victoria BC on June 22nd and Ironman Florida on November 1st. Of course, there will be my usual races in the Portland area this summer - I've been doing them for so long now I just wouldn't consider skipping them. The local race directors even have photos of me doing their events at my top weight. Anyway - so that's who I am and my story. Hope to hear from you soon. Jackie ps - being Gay - i'm sure my "SO" won't be worried about "Big Sexy" |

Pro 3673 MAC-opolis | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---OPEN for a few more peeps! Welcome hot skinny broad! Beach, keep going at whatever pace you are comfy. I would suggest doing 3 weeks of decent workouts with the 4th week a "recovery week". For the 3 workout weeks, increase your weekly volume by 10%, then on the 4th week, drop your current volume by 40%. Should look like this using 2 hours as an example: week 1: 2 hours |

New user 8 | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Thanks for the training schedule--I would not have done that! Also, I tried short sprints of running on the treadmill--30 and 40 seconds three times--I'll keep doing that to increase my running time! Purple--I live near Sheboygan and was born in Chicago. Where are you? I also have two kids 5 & 7--what a co-inkee-dink!! Good luck everyone! |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Karate went well. Scale at the gym had me at 220 (after workout), which is a 5 pound difference than Sunday. I dont care that I was dehydrated and the scale might not have been set right, felt good to see 220, first time in more than 10 years must be. Now just need to keep on dropping. Hoping for a short bike ride today, long run tommorow, longer bike and Karate Sunday. Take care. |

Pro 3673 MAC-opolis | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. When is everyone's first race? Mine is 2/10, the Ameriprise Financial Season Opener. It is a sprint series here in SOFLO with a couple of OLY's thrown in and a half at the end of the year. If you complete 6 of the 9 series races then you qualify for the season awards. My goal this year is to WIN the Clydesdale 225+ masters division!! |

Champion 5312 Calgary | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. That is an awesome goal to have, I think just doing 6 tris would be an awesome goal (how far to you have to travel to go to the races). We do not really have anything like that here, at least I dont think we do, just a bunch of random races. My first race, as you know, frozen as 50 KM on February 18, first sprint in April. My goal this year is to WIN the Clydesdale 225+ masters division!! For my first tri, it will probably be in August, since I can't imagine running 3 miles without dropping some serious weight first. The tri season around here goes through Oct, so hopefully a few fall races in the mix too depending on how things go through this summer. It was so much more fun putting on the weight than it is now taking it off. I'm getting a lot more sweaty taking it off though. |

New user 11 | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. beachkat, I have a good friend in Plymouth. My parents have a summer home in Sister Bay, so if you want to do the tri with me. There's a place to stay. How old are you? I'm 35. I pretty much took the weekend off. I went downtown with my girlfriends. Had a good time and tomarrow, I'll swim. I haven't been riding much because the spin classes don't really fit well in to my schedule. I'll have to figure out a day to spin. |

New user 8 | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Hi Everyone: Well, I had a unplanned workout that was really challenging. I did a walk on the treadmill this morning, but it seemed to just suck the life out of me, so I took a nap after that. When I woke up this afternoon, we took the kids for a walk in the wood for 35 minutes. There was a lot of snow, so it really was hard to walk. I didn't realize it would be such a hard walk. I also did some crunches, so I think I'll consider this my hardest workout of the week. Purple Swimmer--I'm glad you had a good weekend--I will definitely work toward the Door County Tri. I'm going to be taking a swimming class in Plymouth to work on my skills. I really need help on the swimming. I'm alson going to buy an indoor trainer for the bike--I wish we had warmer weather coming soon--I'd much rather walk/bike outside, but the icy roads are not fun to maneuver. By the way, I'm 42. We'll definitely have to keep in touch to do this! Also, did you see their are some supersprints in southern Wis? I think there is one in Lake Geneva and one in Delevan. Talk to everyone soon! |

Master 1641 Cambridge, MA | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Hey peeps, I just returned from SEXY-land, or rather Miami, and had a great first marathon. You can read about it from my blog's link to the Race Report. Now I didn't get to meet mr. sexy himself (poor planning on my part -- not enough advance notice, sorry) but I can tell from his post above that some slacking needs to stop this week. I have no excuse. My race is done, my taper was fun, but now it's time to eat sparingly and work dilligently. I'm on it!! Stay accountable and stay organized: that's my mantra for this last week of January. Cheers, -Sunny |

Master 1641 Cambridge, MA | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Anyone else here have a goal for February?? Here's mine: New month, new day, and new goal: Track nutrition through February. All of it. Everyday. Tally weekly averages for total calories and P/C/F ratios and fiber grams/day. I haven't been that consistent in diet logging in a loooong time, and I want to see what I can learn. I'll use the Nutrition tracker on my BT log to tally it up...up...up and hopefully will start to see my measurements come down, down, down. Cheers, -Sunny

New user 8 | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. Hi Sunny--that is a great goal--I find it hard to track everything that I eat. My goal is to exercise 20 days and increase my endurance by the end of the month. Last month's goal was to lose 15-20 lbs and I ended up losing 5.5. I know I need to be happy with losses, so now I I'm staying away from weight loss goals. DH--happy birthday! I'm glad you got some good loot! Have fun with all of it! Well, got to get moving around before I veg out--I think I hear the couch calling me! Anyone have any good plans for the weekend?? Is their a football game on or something?? |

Veteran 137 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: BIG SEXY's group---FULL of sexiness. I'm chipping away at goals I made the middle of last month - the big one being hitting the gym at least 3 times a week over a 6 week period. I'm averaging 4-5 times a week - to jumpstart my overall fitness. Of course weight loss is always at the forefront of my training, and I'm going for 2 lbs a week through the summer to lose (believe me, at my current weight, not unreasonable). By March 1 the weather here should be a bit nicer and I'll start *gasp* running outside again. We'll see on that one though. |

The beginning of January was good but now that Tax season is in full swing it's going to take motivation. I haven't really lost any weight however my clothes fit so much better. Oh...and I need to ride a bike at some point. We have an old recumbant in basement...I'm going to dust it off and ride when I don't make it to the gym. jody Edited by purpleswimmer 2008-02-03 10:02 AM |
