I saw a few people drinking beer after the race today.  I was unable to track down the source which was unfortunate because usually I have a nose for that sort of thing.

Is it sad that I now want to travel to Iowa to try and earn a pig of my own?  That's the coolest race award ever!

I manged to get in a nice easy run today.  I also managed to get off-route and had to walk a mile and a half back to my car.  ooops.  Sometimes zoning out while running is a good thing.  Other times the zone-out treats me bad.

Speaking of packing... I've been asking another group to share some "you know you're a triathlete when..." stories.  Here's my most recent:

I'm on a business trip right now in NOLA.  Compared to Boston, this is DAMN HOT.  AND I have to be in business attire through the whole conference since it's full of clients or potential clients, so it's kinda well, sweat city for me going between the conf center and hotel symposia.  So did I pack much needed deodorant?  Noooooooooo.  I open my suitcase on morning 1 of the conference to find that I accidentally packed Body Glide instead!  DOH! Yell

So I got two runs in so far, which I think is an accomplishment when outta town on biz.  The first I was actually running for beer with one of the Hashes here.  The second was running off my Saturday night beer at a 5k sponsored by the conference at 6:30 this morning in the French Quarter.  And yes, at 6:30, there were still a lot of drunk folks out on the street here in New Orleans!

One cool thing that I've never seen before-- my race number was made out of a speckled-looking paper.  When I unpinned it after I got back to my hotel room, I saw on the back it says that those specks are flower seeds!  I can soak it in water for 24-hrs then cover with a couple inches of soil in spring or fall and it will grow flowers!  How cool is that??!!??

Pretty much the first thing I did when I got home was take a picture of it because I thought it was so cool.

*cool pig toppage*

Now that is hilarious.  At least your business attire wasn't chafing the whole trip

Nice job getting some runs in while traveling!  And racing too!

That's really cool about the race number.  It's better than throwing it in the garbage I guess

ebshot - 2009-06-07 3:43 PM Hey guys.  Had a great time today.  I finished 177/240 and 6/9 in my AG.  Total time 1:42:21, a PR of 14 minutes.  I sucked on the swim, cruised on the bike and ran well.  I didn't push it at all and just enjoyed myself.  It was a perfect day to race.  I am working on the RR but it will be a few days before I get it done.

Can I tell you how much I love BTers?  I forgot my goggles (really) and I had two BTers offer me their spares.  BT rocks.

ETA:  Also, another shout out for BT,  a fellow BTer came to my house at 6:15 and picked up my 3 kids to watch them while I raced.  Even though her daughter had a lacrosse tourney today.  She just took my crew with her.  Again, BTers are the best.

Great job Erica Damn 14min PR now you're talking
