Champion 15211 Southern Chicago Suburbs, IL | Subject: RE: Any REAL football fans here? hgoudreau - 2012-03-13 11:49 PM I just found this thread and thought I would pop in and introduce myself. I'm a Villa fan, although I don't get to watch many games (we don't have cable and the channels here only show one or two games a week anyway, which rarely involve Villa, unless you are willing to pay for a pricey premium channel), but I do track results each week. I'm working on finding a local pub that shows the games, but the only one I know of is 40 minutes away. In the interest of full disclosure, I do not follow MLS, but have been to 2 Toronto FC games - one of which was the friendly against villa, which was so cool to see. I think the Canadian men's team is dismal, and that the women are better than their showing in the last World Cup. I could go on, but will leave it at that for now (before this gets too long). Cheers! Welcome. Just so you know, this is one of the longest running, continuous threads in CoJ. Started quite a few years ago and continues to run through the year. We talk EPL, MLS, National Teams and much much more. So glad to know we have another footy follower on the site.

Ouch! Last night had to hurt for you! That wasnt Barca or Real - it was the 7th place team in La Liga that put on that clinic for your team We've debated the demise of the EPL before..but it was never more apparent than last night with the top two teams in the league ( and Manchester) being unceremoniously dumped from the second tier European competition. I would be surprised if Mancini makes it if he doesn't win the league...and both teams need better midfield talent for next seasons campaigns Can't see the Welbeck over Berbatov for these games...no comparison on touch or class... Berbatov will be a good buy for someone... |

As they say pain is just weakness leaving the body... its a long season and the club on top at the end is all that really matters. But yeah it was painful. Never really been a Berbatov fan, too much an all about me type of player... but his touch is amazing

I must say, though, that the part of his game that has always impressed me is how selfless he is on the field. He is a dominating goal-scorer with a phenomenal touch on the ball, and yet he sets up his teammates every chance he gets, even in cases where he could probably get a great shot in himself. He is the type of player every team would love to have - great individual skill, but still with the strongest sense of it being a "team" game. Edited by hgoudreau 2012-03-23 12:10 PM |

Yep - he is the anti-Ronaldo - who is all about himself. I think CR7 has taken something like the last 35 free kicks and not scored once..he is about himself not the team..Messi is the opposite.
