Good morning team !  I can't believe it, we have 50 degrees and the STUPID SNOW is finally melting ! The 3 inch sheet of ice that was my driveway is finally GONE ! WOOHOO   We can see blacktop ...we actually have a road ! I am so excited.

Last night my dh asked if I wanted to go to a nice hotel an hour or so from here for vday. I said "well, I appreciate the thought, but that money could be spent better on bike tires, a water cage and a helmet for my bike (my walmart bike)".    He kinda laughed and then freaked me out !

He said "If you want, we'll just get you a new bike".  We had an agreement that I had to get through one tri with my walmart bike before we'd consider a nicer bike.  This was a total shock !

So now I have to find a bike shop in Indiana...... Jasper, Evansville or Indianpolis.......  I guess those are my only choices....    is it possible to get a bike for $250 - $300 ?

I HATE the idea of being clipped in to pedals, I would consider a cage if it were material and not metal.........but being attached to anything LITERALLY freaks me out !  If I start to fall, I want my feet out !!!   Also no need for aero, I'd only be doing sprint races.

Gosh I have never looked into bikes EVER ! lol   So anyway, if we can get a sitter we'll try to do some running and biking today.....also will take dd to the pool around 2:00 so she can play and swim in her pink goggles.......she is doing so well!

OMG too funny...you know you're a triathlete when you turn down a romantic night with the dh so that you can get new tri gear. Have fun shopping! (Secretly, I was going to ask for a new helmet but my dh announced that he had already found something before I could say anything)

In terms of pedals, my personal thought is that it is actually easier to get in and out of clipless pedals than the cages- especially if you have the setting loose. The energy transfer is also better so that you can be more efficient and thus save more energy for your run.

Hi,

My home internet is completely out. Right now I'm at MIL's sucking on her connection like a wino sucks on a bottle.

The weather here is beautiful with above average temperatures. I took advantage of it yesterday and went for a looong bike ride, 41 miles, my longest of the year. Unfortunately, the last 18 miles were all into a head wind. I was really hurting at the end. Surprisingly, I had a very good run this morning, negative splits all the way, all under 10mm.

Lyssa, I hope you have a great race!

Catch you all again tomorrow morning at work!

You really do need a helmet. Be VERY careful riding without it; stay off roads with cars if you can! Of course, have fun!

BTW, if your bike budget is really only $200-300 you are definitely looking at going used if you want to get anything even halfway decent that would be better than a Huffy.

We heard from Comcast today that our whole street is complaining about problems and that they are going to have to dig up the street nearby. I'll probably stay out for many more days. It's like living back in the early 90's! ;)

you guys are so freaking awesome!! i've been offline for a couple days, and it was so great to get on here and see you guys all encouraging me for my race today!!

OK!! so i raced! it was great! i felt good. i ran the whole thing which was my ultimate goal, i DIDN'T do it quite as fast as i'd hoped (1.12) but i'm pretty much ok with that. the course was nice, the race was fun, i felt really good all the way through. the last bit my hips were getting tired, but i kept seeing this shadow behind me so i kept going, i think i would have been really tempted to walk, except that shadow behind me i think i would have walked a bit there at the end. it was a chick, she ended up catching up with me and we ran the last mile together, chatting which helped take my mind off how tired i was getting.

anyway, super fun, glad i did it, ready for another one. LOL

my computer is FINALLY ready, i'm on it right now (although it's still hooked up here at my parents house) and i'll take it home tonight. EEEEEEEE it's WAY great.

Yay, Alyssa! Congrats on the race! So great that you found a buddy to run with in the final stretches. While I love my solitude in some of my training, I have always enjoyed chatting with people during races. It makes the time pass by and you can share the positive energy that'll get you that much closer to the finish line.

I love my Starbucks too...sipping on some now during my prep period as I do a little catching up. Not sure if you have access to a laptop, but next time you're 'stuck' at a 'bucks, if you have a Starbucks card and register it...you get 2 hours of free wifi, not to mention a free flavour shot for your latte. (When we were house sitting for 2 weeks without Internet, dh spent A LOT of time at the bucks.)

i'm all up and running with my new computer at home. laughably, i'm still using my old monitor, my dad said it was like having a lamborghini pulled by a horse, so next order of buisness is a new one.
i haven't done a race report, because my race wasn't on the "list" and i have to add it, and i just haven't taken the time, (lazy bugger aren't i? LOL) but i will sometime today i hope.

i am trying to spend the day learning vista (yes, dinosaur that i am, i was still running XP until yesterday) and catching up on the housework. but i'm SO freaking glad to have a computer at home again!!! nicole you have ALL my sympathy not having internet at home!

I'm looking at the instructions on line: Average should be kinda self explanatory; "F" would stand for "Fastest" and should tell you the lap number that was fastest and then the time of that lap;  the "S" is for slowest and should also tell you the lap number and then the lap time.

Which color model do you have?

Well I didn't keep my focus last week, but it wasn't because I didn't want to!  But I'm feeling much better after a few days of rest, and I'm ready to hit it again.  Are we ready?

Last week I committed to 4 runs, 3 swims, 2 bikes, and 1 race.  I fell far short!  So this week, rather than counting on good weather, good health, etc., I commit to working out at least once a day (since I'm just coming off three rest days, I can say that ).  Today I ran and swam.  One day down, six to go.  Anyone with me?
