Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I agree with the other comments on switching gears and slowing down, for me, and these hills---Lots of walking! But it does pay off and your you do have to start speeding up to keep you HR where you want it. Toady was a great swim 32 minutes or so.... I used a stopwatch and stopped it during recovery, but there were a few times I didn't start it right away and I tried averaging the amount of time for that distance given what I had been doing. I was very happy to see I am steady at under 3min/100 FINALLY!!! and the first 500 were averaging about 2:30! I hope my calculations were right!!!! Legs a bit sore from yesterday. My take the rest of the day off for cooking and house work! - Mitch: S 4 / B 12 / R 14 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 30 ; 21:11'25"

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I bought the MAF book on my Kindle which makes it harder to flip through to the pages that look important. I've got to dig out my heart rate monitor and see how I'm doing. I have since purchasing it cut out the speed work and focus on keeping my breathing and effort lower. Should be interesting! This is my recovery week so oodles of easy 30' workouts - Mitch: S 4 / B 12 / R 14 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 30 ; 21:11'25" - Andy: S 7 / B 10 / R 11 /Rest Days 5 ; Total = 30 (Two extra from two races); 26:42'14" - Gabe: S 9 / B 10 / R 11 / Rest Days 4 ; Total = 30 ; 42:05'09" - Scott: S 2 / B 7 / R 14 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 28 ; 25:30'00" - JoeP: S 8/ B 11/ R 8 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 27 ; 32:26'50" - Ernesto: S 4 / B 10 / R 11/ Rest Days 3 ; Total = 25 ; 30:52'00" - Mike: S 8 / B 4 / R 7 / Rest Days 4 ; Total = 23 ; 22:33'30" - Barry: S 4 / B 6 / R 12/ Rest Days 4 ; Total = 22 ; 18:22'54" - Jim: S 0 / B 12 / R 9 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 22 ; 21:17'58" (1pt post race) - Rachel: S 5 / B 8 /R 7 / Rest Days 4; Total = 20 ; 25:49'10" - Marcia: S 4 / B 8 / R 8/ Rest Days 6 ; Total = 20 ; 24:21’ - Samyg S 5 / B 8 / R 7 / Rest Days 3; Total=20 ; 18:18'53" - Jennie: S 6 / B 5 / R 9/ Rest Days 5 ; Total = 20 ; 12:56'36" - Markz: S 2 / B 6/ R 9 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 17 ; 24:17'00" - Chris: S 3 / B 5 / R 6 / Rest Days 5 ; Total = 16 (2 extra from race); 15:46:33" - Adrian: S 2 / B 7 / R 6 / Rest days 1 ; Total = 15 ; 17:18'18" - Jackie: S 1 / B 5/ R 2 / Rest Days 4 ; Total = 12 (4 extra from two races) ; 08:28'20" - Lynne: S 2 /B 2 / R 7 / Rest Days 5; Total= 11 ; 08:02'41" - Ted: S 0 / B 5 / R 5 / Rest Days 1 ; Total = 10 ; 9:56:00" - David: S 2 / B 2 / R6 / Rest Days 3 ; Total = 10 ; 08:48'15" - Charlotte S 1 / B 3 / R 5/ Rest Days 5 ; Total= 9 ; 06:12':00" - MatthewS: S 0 / B 3 / R 1/ Rest Days 1 ; Total = 4 ; 06:14'00"

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today is a beautiful day. Summer has arrived. It's sunny and warm (24C/80F). On the way home from work I saw masses of people out cycling and running... Unfortunately, I woke up with swollen glands and a scratchy throat this morning. I made it through work on a combination of drugs and determination. So my 15 mile run that I had planned for tonight has been binned :-( I'm off work now until Saturday night, but I've got a race on Friday, for which I will be travelling on Thursday. I was planning my long run for today and my long ride for tomorrow so that I could get them in and still have something left for the race. Now I'm going to have to see how I feel over the next few days and adjust my plans accordingly. As usual in these situations I'm torn between feeling like I should still do something, and knowing that if I make myself really ill right now it's going to have a bigger impact than missing a couple of days training (even the big days). Just to put the "pushing through" attitude into perspective, one of my colleagues was feeling a little ill and run down. She kept going until last monday where she went from ok to absolutely dire in the 10 hours of the shift. She called in sick the next day, but a couple of days later she was being taken to hospital by ambulance and was in the high dependency unit with acute pneumonia. She's still in hospital at the moment. |
