Hiya - just an update, Ive heard back from most of the people Ive PMd... the ones Ive heard from are still swimming... so in a couple of cases a log/spreadsheet check might be all thats required. A couple I havent heard back from yet but lets give people a chance to come and check in! Yeah, I took it upon my self to update a few for them, while I was trying to stay awake at work last night. Oh yeah I left some inspires too! LETS GET SWIMMING GIRLS!!!! ALMOST DONE! |

I saw the PM, Dex sent it to me after I said something to him about dropping out. I will only say that he told me he is pissed off. Take it up with him.QueenZipp - 2009-05-27 11:24 AM Nicole, I like your idea. If under 60% mid month the low performers should be dropped but most of us are busting our a$$es getting our goals met. I talked to Dex. He didn't ask to be taken off the team. Phil asked him to go cause he was so far under goal which totally pissed him off. I think in the future there needs to be a designated captain per team and not a self appointed manager of things. The purpose of the challenges is to make training fun, not to make us hate each other for checking logs and such. TOTAL B.S. - Here's the e-mail -
1). Does that look like I asked him to leave? Get the TOTAL facts straight before making some accusation, Zippy. I have a HUGE problem with that comment you made and do not appreciate it. If Dexter is pizzed off at me, he can PM me himself. But, from what is presented, it was left for Dexter to decide on, not ME TELLING HIM what to do. If he wanted to stay, he could have stayed. If he wants back on, he can come back on.
I've got a lot more to say but holding back on the barrels. I agree with appointing a Captain for the teams next time. I'm smarmy and usually very cordial, but when accusations are thrusted out there like that, that BURNS MY AZZ a little. Now, I can't wait to see the little tete-a-tetes that develop behind my back from this post. Have a better day, and I do mean that graciously. My intentions were to find out if these people were still in the challenge since they haven't communicated anything to the team for days, first and foremost. The next intention was to get them going and do what they could if they were to continue. If he was pissed off, he could've told me in his PM here -
It's a challenge, it's not life. Big deal. I could care less if we win or lose. I and many others had fun. Many of the women busted their azzes out there, along with many of the guys to "one up" each other. I applaud that whole-heartedly. GREAT JOB to all those getting those swims in! But I'm not letting this continue of someone interpreting something else, without going to the source and getting the facts. I'm a straight-shooter, as Deeder, TinkerBeth, K, and others know. My message was cordial and to the point, and wasn't telling him or asking him to quit, but was obviously taken incorrectly. If his feelings were hurt, I'm sorry. However, he wasn't the only one that was asked if they were still continuing or not. |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: GIRLS TEAM THREAD May Swim Challenge MDHillSlug - 2009-05-27 10:56 AM Let's figure out how to reinstate everyone who was in the challenge as of the 16th of May. Then, we can do something like they do in diving and gymnastics scoring where the lowest scores get dropped. I suggest that at the end of the month the final team average will be figured after the lowest 10% of participants are dropped (I suggest we use a % rather than a fixed number since the girls have more members than the boys). Does this seem fair? I'd love some buy-in for this (but I suppose I can impose it unilaterally) Thanks, Nicole Nicole, First, thanks for taking over this challenge. I like your idea about dropping the lowest 10%. This will allow people who really overestimated their goal (or interest in the challenge) to be dropped from the calculation. Also, when I run challenges, I will drop anyone who disappears from BT completely for a two-week period. (In other words, come May 31st, if they haven't logged onto BT since May 17th, I would drop them.) But you can do this, or not.... You may want to request one volunteer from each team to act as "Captain." This person can check the logs of people who haven't been updating the spreadsheet. If it's a matter of these people just not updating the spreadsheet, the Captain can do it for them. If the person's blog hasn't been updated, the Captain can check the profile to see if the person has logged in during the last two weeks. Or, if the person has been logging in but not swimming, the CAPTAIN can send ONE PM asking if they've forgotten about the challenge. (But please limit it to one, so people don't think they're being stalked!) For the team captains, Phil has already been checking the guys' blogs. (And yes, he was nominated/asked by his team.) So maybe the girls' team could name a Captain. (I'm thinking you may want to name someone other than Nicole, since she's going to be spending some time with the spreadsheets already.) Comments? Questions? Discussion? Can I turn *blink* mode off now? Or do you want me to pull out my taser collection? - Dee Edited by D001 2009-05-27 10:01 PM |

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: GIRLS TEAM THREAD May Swim Challenge Part II of my reply. (Because Phil sent me a PM telling me where to start reading on the guy's thread, so I saw some of the other posts....) Since Nicole has taken over as Challenge Organizer, how about if she's the *only* one who can decide whether to drop someone or not? That way, there will be consistency on both teams. So, if the team or Captain feels that someone should be dropped, they can let Nicole know. And Nicole can make the final ruling. |

Bopper - 2009-05-27 10:20 PM If Nicole is comfy with that responsibility... I'll agree to it... but don't feel like you *have* to do it. What ever is decided.... will be fine with me. That's true. Nicole didn't ask to run this challenge. She volunteered, after Yanti's life became complicated.... Nicole, if you don't mind doing this - that's great. If, however, you don't want to take on this added responsibility, just send me a PM and I'll do it. Edited by D001 2009-05-27 11:13 PM |
