So this is nice.

Tennis match scheduled at location A for 6:30. I get an email at 4:00 TODAY that we need to move the match to location B.

I sent emails to my team, but who knows if they'll get them in time (I'm acting as captain this week and I have basically ZERO contact info other than email.

Oh, and it's gonna rain in a little bit. Nice cell headed right toward location B.

Yippee.

mr2tony - 2008-07-31 5:11 PM Hm. I really do make a mean omelet and just wonder what you took from that statement. I was responding to preacherman's post about being bad in bed while being a good omelet maker. And I too am terrible in bed yet a good omelet maker. Sooo ... huh?

Exactly. Being bad in bed and desperate

I'm just kidding, ya know. I'm sure you are adequate

Ohhhhhhh I just thought you misunderstood the response. Never you mind. I want cake.

Cake, I can help you with. I would have to fed-ex it though, and you would have to frost it yourself.

Frost comes in a can, right? Even I can do that. I'm actually a decent cook. Just not a very good baker.

Yeah, but I could send you good homemade frosting. Though sometimes, I just used the canned stuff, cuz it's tasty.

Sprint_DA - 2008-07-31 4:14 PM Just got in the replacement C-Spanner so I can adjust the chain on my motorcycle again. Also got the movie Heavy Metal in Baghdad from Netflix, supposed to be about metal bands starting up in Iraq. I'll have to figure out which I am going to do tonight after my workout.

Watch the movie.  Read a book.  Make an omelet(te). Hey, how was your day?

OH!

DEAR!

LORD!

They just did some kind of cleaning to the autoclave back in the lab and the smell just reached me.

Dear GOD what the hell is that smell?!?!?!?!?!

14 years in the laboratory and that one is a top 5 right there. OOF!

Did someone cook a turkey in it?

No, the guy that comes to do the preventative maintenance pulled something out of the drain.  From waaaaaay back in the drain.  Think equal parts agar, water, and just general gunk.  Yeah.  It still smells!!

You have no idea.

Like I said, I've been in a lab setting for over 14 years and that is easily in the top 5 of worst smells I can remember.

Worst was a batch of 24 bottles of rancid soybean oil from Chile.  They told me I turned a different shade of green every time I opened a new bottle.  Never lost it, mind you, but mercy, that was baaaayaaaad!

So, apparently this conversation

"How do the numbers look, Schwamm?"
"They look okay."
"Okay, great."

meant that i wasn't supposed to change ANYTHING in the data even if upon further review i find errors. Whoops. Sorry, Bossman.

Sounds like autoclaving the fruitfly growth media: agar, molasses, and other crap.  Most disgusting thing ever.

If you guys knew the bottles were bad, why were they being tested? For their degree of badness, like Stitch in Lilo and Stitch?

They needed to find out exactly what it was that was causing it.  They had an idea, but weren't sure.  Soooooo we got to test them.

Lipolytic bacteria.  Bacteria that breaks down fat/lipids.  And makes for the most gawd aweful smell in the world.

Seriously, y'all are a bunch of weirdos. It even makes Goggs look less like a weirdo, since he's a journalist.

To be honest, though, I love me some engineers. They are HAWT.
