mr2tony - 2007-09-20 11:49 AM Yeah there's a Pittsburg, Kansas, with no `h' on it. MRS2Tony bought some Elton John concert tickets in Omaha for her parents, but so did her sister. She paid $222.85 for them, face value, and now she needs to sell them because her sister's seats were better. They're on eBay with 6 days left in a 7-day auction and nobody's bid on them yet. I hope she recoups the money but if not she can go to the concert or donate them and take a write-off. Anyway it's more drama in my life as she's totally stressin' about being out $222.85.

She's not 11Heather05 is she?

Seriously, Wikipedia and google are your friend.

I feel like the COJ threads are considerably more stupid this week than normal.  I'm tired of trying to read them.  Yet I can't look away...

I know what it IS...I'm just stunned by it all. It's just so lame and propaganda-like! But that's clearly "something" and therefore inappropriate here. =)

Must be lunch time for most TANners about now.

Sorry...didn't mean to be snippy.  I don't know.  I can see both sides, but I'm still a little annoyed about all the crazy media coverage.

It's lunch time here...I just usually go early or late to avoid all the lines at noon.  And I don't know what I want.

I just don't think everyone knows the whole story. If the bloody sneaker evidence was strong enough to arrest all 6 members I think you have to hold out until the court goes through due process. But I also understand why it is such a hot button issue with all the racial undertones.

Edited to add... But like you said.... Probably a topic not for TAN

I dunno ... maybe.

On a side note we just won an auction for 4 tickets to the Cowboys-Bears game at Soldier Field on Sunday night!!! My buddy Jon is coming to town and we're going to fly the Cowboys flag and prepare for the Bears fans to throw stuff, cuss and show general malaise, or utter hatred, as the case may be, toward us.

Anyway we have four tickets and I just put the other two up on eBay for what they cost us. So it's a big happy e-bay sellin' party up in here.

G'day, TAN!!!

Now that I've had a chance to catch up on TAN's collective stream of consciousness regarding (in part):

- crazy expensive liquor

- TheSchwamm's wish for a different, expensive-liquor cause to her illness (so sorry--hope it passes!)

- the bizarre twist of answers to chirunner's expense worries

- the expense of health care

- lunch (now that I'm starting on breakfast)

... I feel it really important to point out that my home country produces a $50/cup coffee that is essentially coffee beans covered in ferret shmyte.

And with that, I think I will have another plain old home-brewed non-flavored Cup o' Joe.

HA!  Reminds me of when the wife and I went to a KC-Bears game quite a few years ago.  She, a huge Chief's fan, was attracking the attention of a couple of drunk boys (not men, too young) behind us.  They kept calling me "New Trier" in reference to a fairly nice school in the Northern Burbs, which I of course did not attend.

Anyway, tt got worse and worse.  I finally turned around and said "Boys, listen, I understand your jealousy about my superior education compared to your sub-par experience, but it's not my fault you were born idiots."  I didn't think it was that good, but it actually shut them up.  Actually, I think it was the laughing of everyone around them that shut them up.  They left a few minutes later.

Hmmm.... so you have tickets to see the boys.  Man, that's tempting.

I had a grilled chicken wrap, it was good.

On my way back I stopped to get gas, and remembered FINALLY that I had a lottery ticket in my console that a coworker had given me in a Christmas card last year, that was a $10 winner. So I went in and got the money for it. I grabbed 2 gallons of iced tea and brought it in for everyone at work. It's AMAZING how differently people act after such little things. The warehouse guys were all excited and thanked me, etc. They're all cheery now and working harder. All because of freaking iced tea. Oh well. I'm sure they feel like I actually care, and probably never witnessed that before. Ha.

You're getting pretty smart in your ... old...age?

HA!

Primary reason I am staying away from other threads in CoJ from now on:

I cannot stand them.  People irritate me, and I see a fair amount of hypocricy on many threads.  I'm sticking to things I know:  random silliness, and running.
